Is a pen worth it or am I thinking about this too much?

I've been using peptides since late Jan and I have always just filled the syringe myself and injected. My mother gets the name brand Tirz 2.5mg from her doctor as "free samples" and absolutely loves the disposable pen. I've been curious about using a pen for my grey shots. Is a pen worth it? I don't have any issues with needles or pulling it from the vial.

I was looking at the auto injector 2

I'm currently on 7.5mg shots - T60@3ml BAC (so 38 units). I can always reconstitute with 2ml for less units and I am comfortable with doing this.

I am just worried that it is going to slam the plunger way too hard.

Am I thinking about this too much?

Be aware the pens your mom are getting are a different breed than the refillable cartridge pens (assuming Mounjaro/Zepbound). Many diehard reusable pen fans will tell you they only make sense for multiple daily/weekly injections.

If you're only taking 1 shot a week and not needle phobic, there is no need to bother with pens.

If you take more than one shot or you don’t want to draw up weekly, pens are great. Dont know what an auto injector 2 is- I have 3 auto injectors- a Mumford, a Gansulin, and an Ali baba pen called a “bird pen” colloquially because it has a bird on the box. I haven’t used the Mumford yet but I use the other 2 daily; I honestly like Savvios better (not an auto injector). I like pens because they seem easier to maintain aseptically. I also hated drawing up my shots daily.

And you aren’t thinking too much- on another forum there is an entire channel dedicated to pens and pen supplies. Just be careful- I was just going to get a couple of basic V-2s. Now I have 4 V-2s, the 3 auto injectors, 2 Savvios, an Eli Lilly, a Novo 4 and an Allstar. Do I need them all? Not really. But I got them, tried them, and when some wear out, I won’t replace them.
 
Like others have mentioned, the pens you would be purchasing typically aren't auto injectors. You dial into the dose and still have to manually depress.

On a other note, I don't think these pens are as good about maintaining sterility as most people think. I've seen a couple of reports of where people noticed a speck of blood in the cartridge after use, so backflow does seem like a possibile concern.

IMHO - If your RS is a "don't want to see the needle RS" and pin a peptide or 5 daily, then it's worth it.

I picked up a couple V2s from Underground Supply on TG and they are practical for what I need.

I use insulin syringes on the RS for 1x weekly shots.

I will say this --> watch several videos on filling the cartridges before using it, because that stopper will fly the hell out of the bottom and shoot $150 worth of your first retail purchase across the room before you have time to realize it... 🫠 and that kind of sucks.

ETA - on the V2 you pull the bottom half off and then unscrew the cartridge holder.

That I'm not sure of. It was a while ago and I can't even remember what platforms I saw it on, but tbh I feel pretty confident saying it was probably the cheapie ali express pens.

I just started using pens for daily injections and like them, but they’re not necessary. I don't even know why I like them so much, using a syringe was fine. I think it’s just about having a different experience and seeing what the hype was about
 
For glp1s I use syringes. But for peps like Glow or KPV that I use often, pens are the way to go. Wished I had jumped on the bandwagon sooner.
 
I seem to mostly use the most basic pens. Savvios do work very smoothly, they are metal, and you can get them from most of the vendors I know. I’ll post a few links once I’m finished. Novos are “top of the line,” very nice, but they have to be modified and use adapters, plus some cartridges are a tight fit. If you want an auto injection pen you only have 3 choices- Gansulin, Mumford and one known as “the bird pen.” They are ok, but are sold on Ali Baba, so the prices have gone way up. My bird pen was $19- I know someone who paid $40, which is what I paid for my Gansulin. If you want inexpensive and reliable, that’s a V1or a V2. And if you want to get fancy, there are wrapped pens on Etsy and wraps sold by a vendor who is mostly on STG. The supposed “Cadillac” of peptide pens is the Lilly Luxura. I hesitated to buy pre-tariff at $45; now? I saw it today and it was $81. 😳🤯 oh, and there is an ultra basic pen known as “the white plastic pen.” Works fine, but not sure it’s available right now (it’s back ordered).

Honestly, I love my Savvio. But if you just want a reliable pen? V1 or V2 is a solid choice.
