Is a pen worth it or am I thinking about this too much?

I've been using peptides since late Jan and I have always just filled the syringe myself and injected. My mother gets the name brand Tirz 2.5mg from her doctor as "free samples" and absolutely loves the disposable pen. I've been curious about using a pen for my grey shots. Is a pen worth it? I don't have any issues with needles or pulling it from the vial.

I was looking at the auto injector 2

I'm currently on 7.5mg shots - T60@3ml BAC (so 38 units). I can always reconstitute with 2ml for less units and I am comfortable with doing this.

I am just worried that it is going to slam the plunger way too hard.

Am I thinking about this too much?
I use a Mumford Autoinject2.

Autoinject2

Very easy to use and works great. Definitely for those who do not like needles- it is push button spring loaded and the needle is shrouded so you don't see it insert and inject. You have to load it with needles each time you change peptides, but it is worth it to me (I'm on 5 peptides now).

I tried a V2 PepPen with a cartridge but I hated it. It is not spring loaded like the Mumford, you have to press it manually. I couldn't reach it with my thumb correctly so it was hard and the needle actually bent, messing up the shot. I ditched it and returned to using the Mumford. I wish I could find a spring loaded cartridge pen with the shrouded needle. Mumford makes a spring loaded cartridge injector but it's not shrouded so I'm having a hard time using it.

autopen

Anyone know of one like I'm describing which is easily purchasable?

Breakfast goes down easier with these...

Where did you get those? I've been looking for colored ones as well to help me differentiate mine. Thanks!

A few different places. Mailordermeds.com has the savvios, Underground Supplies usually has the V1s (better than V2) and Alibaba is where I got the bird pen (spring loaded automatic).

Thanks. Which is your favourite? Any chance you can pass on a link to the alibaba ones? Cheers.

I like the savvios for smoothness, the bird pen for spicy peps that I don't want to push myself, and the V2 goes up to 80 units for big pins. It's hard to pick a favorite.

The bird pen is, but the needle is not shrouded. V2s are, but they are clunky. I believe there's a V3 that functions like the V1 and also has a shrouded needle, but it's not auto like the bird.

Pen Chonghe Lin M30 Diabetes Home Automatic Injection Pen

That's the translated name, in case anyone wonders why it's easier to say bird pen...

Don't know what Chonghe Lin means but I suspect this is why they call it the bird pen:

Did that help with the welt to?
I never got welts- I got hard itchy lumps under the skin. I still get the lumps but they don’t itch.

Potentially unpopular opinion:

Pens are the safest way to inject peptides. Whether daily, weekly, or any other schedule.

Why? Using a pen requires reconstituting the peptides in 3ml or 4ml batches (as per your pen's cartridge), filling the sterile vial, and using one-time-use disposable pen needles. Following proper sterile measures and setting the pen up allows for single-use needles, less contact with the cap of the vial, and a far more consistent, safer dosing regimen.

It's very easy to accidentally push more than intended with a syringe than a pen. Of course, there's many factors for accuracy, but you're eliminating a major risk factor: human error.

If you're on a consistent and regular dose of a peptide you're better off labelling your pen with the dosage (i.e. do the math and calculate the units needed) and less likely to waste as well...

Is it necessary? No. Is it required? No. Is it safer? Likely, yes. Is it easier? That's up to you.

For glp1s I use syringes. But for peps like Glow or KPV that I use often, pens are the way to go. Wished I had jumped on the bandwagon sooner.
THis is exactly the feedback I am looking for... And was wondering about - for those daily peps. Also seems like a nobrainer to fill a pin for international air travel.

I seem to mostly use the most basic pens. Savvios do work very smoothly, they are metal, and you can get them from most of the vendors I know. I’ll post a few links once I’m finished. Novos are “top of the line,” very nice, but they have to be modified and use adapters, plus some cartridges are a tight fit. If you want an auto injection pen you only have 3 choices- Gansulin, Mumford and one known as “the bird pen.” They are ok, but are sold on Ali Baba, so the prices have gone way up. My bird pen was $19- I know someone who paid $40, which is what I paid for my Gansulin. If you want inexpensive and reliable, that’s a V1or a V2. And if you want to get fancy, there are wrapped pens on Etsy and wraps sold by a vendor who is mostly on STG. The supposed “Cadillac” of peptide pens is the Lilly Luxura. I hesitated to buy pre-tariff at $45; now? I saw it today and it was $81. 😳🤯 oh, and there is an ultra basic pen known as “the white plastic pen.” Works fine, but not sure it’s available right now (it’s back ordered).

Honestly, I love my Savvio. But if you just want a reliable pen? V1 or V2 is a solid choice.

Just curious why anyone would have more in a syringe than they intended to inject?

I have used both official Zepbound pens and diabetic syringes to inject myself. I don’t see much of a difference. If the syringes bothered you, then using a pen would e worth considering.

I like pens because it removes the air from touching my peptide. It just feels cleaner, and some peps can gel from the air in the vial. (so I hear.) Call me silly, but we are all worried about cleanliness and then inject air into the vials to fix the vacuum. I mean air isn't sanitized. 🤣

I have v2s, but I just ordered a Bird pen to try.

I like pens too, but you heard wrong. Oxidation doesn't cause gelling in any peptides.

That is good to know! Whoever said that was talking about AOD anyway, which I know tends to gel regardless. They thought it preserved better in a pen.
