For those on Reta, what’s your exit strategy?

I’m just starting with Reta and have always wondered what an exit strategy for getting off of Reta looks like to users.

I’m not questioning the strategy of tritating down, but are you planning to stay on Reta for years or do you plan to stop after you reach certain goals like weight loss?

I’ve seen some anecdotal responses like, I’m fine knowing I’ll be on it for life and it made me do a double take.

How long are you planning to take Reta?

From my honest and my smallest experience, loosing weight with RETA will go fast. As soon as I will have my " goal weight", I will try to maintain it by my self, without using reta or any other peptide, to give a break to my body. I don't want my body to have a love affair with the product. But as soon as I will have a weight gain, I will go back to my love affair again.

Am i the only one?

FOREVER! I get your thinking, I've had that conversation with myself several times and cycled off 3X of Reta and Tirz. I'm just better on it, than off of it. If someone can adapt new habits, keep the weight off, and I'll tip my hat to em. I made 400lbs disappear, I have no intention of letting it come back.

But that's me.

That’s my position too. Glad to hear.

50 more years. Same as my statin.

I'm running that experiment right now. I'm adding 1 day in between doses every two weeks. We will see how far out I can push it.

I expect to, and plan on being on some form of GLP-1's for life. If diet and exercise where a workable plan for me I never would have been 150 pounds over weight to begin with. I have lost 125 pounds on Reta. It's been life changing.

Well, I got 5 years worth in my freezer and was thinking I should get some more if that tells you my plans. My lipid profile and liver markers made some nice improvements. I take a fairly low dose and will stay with that forever.

I have only been on reta since 1/5. I am going to see what happens when I get to my goal weight and how things go as far as side effects long term.

I can't see dealing with this sulfur stomach and narcolepsy-like exhaustion for the rest of my life.

Nice gym membership you've got going there. What's your exit strategy for that? 😉

My current theory is to exit from Reta and go back to Tirz for the long term.

My assumption is Tirz is less stressful on the system long term. I’ve still got at least several months before I’m stable at maintence to be in a position to make a change.

After I get to my goal weight, I will continue a low maintenance dose for 9 months, then begin to decrease the amount I take by .2mg per month until I am off. It might take years, but it's a plan. If I can't make it work, I will keep as low a maintenance dose as I need for as long as I need, for life if necessary.

I stopped taking Reta two weeks ago in anticipation of my upcoming filler appointment (I'm already a huge baby about needles and I don't need the added skin sensitivity). I am not at all hungry this week and am still losing weight. I'm very pleasantly surprised; from what I read on here the hunger usually comes back raging when people stop GLP meds.

My hypothesis on what happened is that 1) I shrank my stomach organ by eating tiny meals the three weeks I was on Reta and 2) I'm now fully off the insulin roller coaster that was making me feel way hungrier than I was.

I'm gonna keep trying this strategy of losing weight by eating smaller portions and avoiding sugar and carbs like the plague. And I like lessthanhalf's strategy of just banning certain foods entirely that I am prone to binging (I plan to never touch another slice of pizza ever again). I hope that if I can keep this up, I can use GLP meds sparingly throughout my life (maybe just to kick off a diet once in a while, etc.) instead of being dependent on it every day for the rest of my life.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if I am wrong. I am stocked up to the teeth on both Reta and CagriSema and I will absolutely hop right back on it if I start gaining again. For now I'm still testing whether I can still diet without it. We shall see........

I agree with you on the diet food selection! What was your weekly dose? Reta long term works for me because I take a low dose. Not trying to starve myself at 50, but just the right amount to not want to overeat. Anyway, good luck with all your goals.

1st and 2nd week 2.5mg, 3rd week 4mg. Honestly Reta didn't do much for appetite suppression at those doses, I was starving the whole time (which is why I purchased the CagriSema). Weirdly I'm now less hungry off the Reta. Maybe just because I'm at a diff point in my monthly cycle. We shall see if my off-GLP diet can make it another 2 weeks...lol.

Started reta 2/1. 17 pounds down first month. Only 9 in March. Im having to convince myself losing 9 or 10 pounds a month is a good thing. Diet and gym are perfect. 225 start weight. 198 today. Body recomp happening. Once hitting goal weight and numbers id like to titrate down then see if I can go off. Realistically I see myself just going low dose once a week. Cureent dose is 3mg on Sunday am. I have to force myself to eat Sunday night to Wednesday night. Thursday Friday and Saturday the appetite suppression is not there but I know not to get crazy with the food.

If you have no intention of letting it come back…. Why not try without it? Did you not teach yourself new habits while losing?
