Have any of you with EoE experienced unexpected improvement after peptide use? If so, which peptide helped?
I don’t have much practical hope for a peptide meaningfully helping with EOE. Several are good for inflammation reduction but not to the level of therapeutic benefit for EOE In my experience.

Did you not respond favorably to PPI, steroid, or food elimination?

My husband responded well to PPIs and steroids, but I think my adult son's doctor is about to put him on dupixent. Food elimination didn't seem to help either of them. I was hoping members of this community might have discovered another hidden/unexpected benefit of one of the peptides.

I have seen worsened symptoms with my esophagitis so I have to stay on top of my triggers more. But I’m taking KPV now and hoping it helps somewhat? Otherwise I’m not sure really if peptides can fix it.

My Dr has a strange energy to get me on Dupixent, either he’s a big believer in it or he gets a kickback.

The PA rightfully failed, and they acted surprised/annoyed, which seemed dumb.

If I could get on Dupixent without undue expense, I’d give it a whirl over peptides which will reduce inflammation, perhaps, at best.

KPV, bcp157, VIP should all help in theory.

I was diagnosed with eoe many years ago after having an endoscope for gerd/acid reflux. They said the eoe was likely from the acid reflux but could also be from a food allergy or some kind of irritant. Ive taken a few cycles of peptides since then im curious if I still have the eoe. They do help with my heartburn and gastro issues. I need to schedule another endoscopy.

I've seen research implicating that mast cells remain in the esophagus even if eosinophils are reduced, and promote inflammation. Theoretically, these mast cells may be senescent, pathogenic, and have gain of function mutations. GLP-1 agonists are being shown to improve and even remit some syndromic illnesses - possibly by modulating down mTOR and NF-kB pathways. This may potentially induce autophagy in these mast cells, and induce remission. At the very least, GLP-1 is a mast cell stimulator and may tamp down the activation of the mast cells.

I have some type of mast cell disease as well as decades of chronic GI issues, and GLP-1 therapy has allowed me to reintroduce foods that I lost years ago. I just switched to Tirz as various reports show it to have more anti-inflammatory activity.

Expression of CD25, mast cell markers and T-cell markers in eosinophilic esophagitis - PubMed

While eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE) is defined by histologic presence of eosinophils, a few studies have established the presence of mast cells in EOE and even shown their correlation with symptom persistence despite resolution of eosinophils. Expression of aberrant mast cell markers CD25 and...

This study seems to indicate that at least in some cases, a localized Mastocytosis may be driving EoE, as mast cells that stain positive for CD25 are pathogenic.

Involvement of mast cells in eosinophilic esophagitis - PMC

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) is an emerging disorder with poorly understood pathogenesis. Whereas prior studies have primarily focused on the role of eosinophils in disease diagnosis and pathogenesis, this study investigates the involvement of mast ...
