Not sure if I believe this….. Maybe wishful thinking on the part of Lindt.

Lindt says weight-loss drugs users are eating more chocolate, not less

Chocolate sales are rising faster among U.S. users of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs than in ‌the rest of the population, Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Spruengli said on Tuesday, citing data that defied forecasts the drugs would reduce confectionery demand.

hey fellow kids, have you heard? People on glp1's are eating more delicious, creamy Lindt chocolate, the chocolate that enchants the world!

Edit 20 min later: God damnit I thought I was funny, then I immediately got it in my head to add a pack of truffles to my grocery order for tonight. Hoisted on my own petard!

Not me, no desire for sweets anymore

I'm not so sure about that. I'm a big fan of dark chocolate and I haven't touched it in months. It just doesn't hit the same. I also don't consider Lindt to be a top tier chocolate maker, but I've been passing on all of it.

High cocoa % dark chocolate, in small quantities like 20 grams is a pretty good diet food, and is surprisingly not addictive, at least for me. Lindt is just too expensive now at $8 Aus for 100g.

I really cannot see how people taking GLP's are going to eat more chocolate overall than binging a couple of 200 gram blocks a week, like I was doing when obese.

Omg, yes! So much more chocolate, didn’t crave it before but now it’s never-ending. Totally counter productive to my goals. Which is one of the many reasons I’m finally switching from Semaglutide to Tirz… hoping that will curb the insatiable sweet tooth a bit better!

The low-fat and low-calorie people will disagree, but 85%+ dark chocolate is (aside from some minor heavy metal concerns) health food. Even without GLPs, it's challenging to overeat. Also its fatty acid profile is heavily weighted towards stearic acid and probably the richest in that of any commonly available fat source that you'll find.

I've never been a chocolate fan. Don't hate it, just don't crave it. But by GOD I'm having issues with cinnamon rolls right now....Roomie brought home a box of cinnabon and I swear they're chanting my name.
Cinnabon 😩 The cinnabon stix used to be my absolute favorite. Wish they hadn’t discontinued them

The research isn’t actually independent or unbiased, but the article was published in Reuters, so I thought that they might be checking on things and that there is some science behind the claim. I think it’s more wishful thinking on Lindt’s part, not only that glp-1 users are eating more chocolate than non-users, but also that their product is premium 😂. From most accounts, food retailers and restaurants are facing declining sales due to glp-1 usage.

That's what I thought also A lot of the BF manufacturers and others are looking for alternatives. For myself, I just don't see any. How do you target someone who is content with two celery sticks and a chicken thigh for dinner?

I would argue there could be some truth behind Lindt's claim,

first thoughts load of pish can't be having more, but then Lindt is more on the premium side a lot of us former fatties (speaking for myself and projecting for all) would focus on low cost high volume snacks and now we don't have the same insatiable voice screaming eat me eat me to everything, your budget can be more selective to higher end products.

basically quality over quantity for those wanting a treat

Sometimes an intense chocolate craving can be a signal of insufficient magnesium. It's not always the case, but can be a good diagnostic for random cravings.

So let me get this straight: GLP users are more likely to purchase chocolate than other cohorts of the general population, even after beginning treatment?

You mean people who struggle with limiting sweets continue to enjoy the things they love even while dieting?

I honestly have a hard time believing the veracity of this given my own experience. Since starting Reta a couple months ago, I have not had chocolate, candy, ice cream, or most anything sweet at all.

Chocolate used to be THE thing that ruined my diet before. Chocolate and Ben & Jerry's. While there were a few short moments when I thought I'd quite like some, I never did and didn't feel like I have to. So, sorry Lindt, I can't agree.
