Eating more chocolate?

I've got a shelf of nice dark chocolates that hasn't been touched since I started on reta.

Thinking about tossing or giving them away to get the space back for something important.

😆

As a confirmed chocolate addict who has not wanted chocolate since starting tirz, this article surprises me. I have not craved chocolate in months and months. I will, however grab a small handful of M&M's if they happen to be easily accessible...cuz they are there.

I ate mine before starting Reta because I didn't want to take a chance. I had a nice selection of some small boutique maker chocolates, which was my indulgence. Well, that and good tequila. Both are gone now.

Shiiiiet a Pape Johns BBQ Chicken Bacon Pizza sounds good right about now
Last time I ate a whole BBQ chicken pizza, I lost 3lbs the next day. YMMV, however if it fits your macros….

Cinnabon 😩 The cinnabon stix used to be my absolute favorite. Wish they hadn’t discontinued them
Alas, the cinnamon rolls won. RIP cinnamon rolls 😀 But on another note, I've noticed that everything "protein" that I buy is chocolate to make it more palatable. Shakes, snack bars, meal replacements etc..all covered with dark chocolate. As someone that doesn't get the choco craving, it honestly is tedious to me. And yet any other flavors of the same product could gag a maggot.

First was my trial with Reta, now am on a trial run of Tirz to determine which is best for me. Both are responsible for a huge drop in Hershey and Reese's sales, as I am now able to resist the urge to consume a whole bag in a single setting. I can have 2 mini Reese's cups and stop. There is a very faint voice in my head that's shouting "BINGE!!" but now I can barely hear it and can easily resist it.

The low-fat and low-calorie people will disagree, but 85%+ dark chocolate is (aside from some minor heavy metal concerns) health food. Even without GLPs, it's challenging to overeat. Also its fatty acid profile is heavily weighted towards stearic acid and probably the richest in that of any commonly available fat source that you'll find.
true.. but straight up dark chocolate is yucky.

I don't know where they're getting the data points from, seems weirdly specific to say a 17% increase in glp users chocolate intake. Personally, disagree - def eating less chocolate than before.

This rings somewhat true for me. Not that I'm seeking out "higher quality" chocolate but I am finding that one small piece of chocolate (I'm currently on a Dove Promises run) is now adequate for a satisfying dessert, vs a pint of Ben & Jerry's or a row of Double Stuff. So I am buying more small and individually wrapped chocolate than I was before. No Reese's though because no amount of medicine can make that a safe choice.

It's certainly an acquired taste for many people and if your prior experience with chocolate is for it to be a heavily sweetened desert where half the cacao butter is replaced with some other junk fat and sugar is the top ingredient, then compared to that real chocolate is going to be an unpleasant experience.

Of course, for many of us that's a big part of what got us in this mess in the first place: We became addicted to hyper-palatable food designed to overpower our normal hunger and satiety mechanisms and never discovered the pleasure of the more traditional foods our ancestors enjoyed.

Ewww. Just kidding. I don't care for chain pizza. We have a few mom and pop pizza joints that are great. Yes I live in Florida. We get shit here that our pizza and similar food isn't anything like up north.

Sometimes an intense chocolate craving can be a signal of insufficient magnesium. It's not always the case, but can be a good diagnostic for random cravings.

Interesting, does chocolate contain magnesium? (Need to google!) Unfortunately, I think I’m going to have to blame this one on sugar “deficiency” 🙂 I’m taking lots of extra magnesium as part of a migraine protocol prescribed by my neurologist. And I think Semaglutide has run its course with me… it’s been over a year and I’m on a solid weight plateau. Let’s hope Tirz curbs that chocolate craving!

That's what I thought also A lot of the BF manufacturers and others are looking for alternatives. For myself, I just don't see any. How do you target someone who is content with two celery sticks and a chicken thigh for dinner?

Yup! It’s definitely not just that glp-1s reduce overall consumption it also changes what you want to eat and what you’re satisfied eating. Can’t market to that, unless you’re selling eggs, protein, or fiber 😂.

I remember my first day of tirzepatide like it was yesterday. I was a constant grazer. Always found myself in front of the fridge. By the afternoon after my morning shot I had only visited the fridge once and when I opened the door I was craving something healthy like protein. I was like WTF this shit is amazing.

Yes, cacao contians high amounts of magnesium and polyphenals. Cocoa and other processed forms of chocolate do, but hte amount goes down with the processing, plus added ingredients like sugar, etc.

But high quality cacao/cocoa sources can certainly provide magnesium.

I'm sorry you have migraines, though! I hope you get a good balance act going with the Tirz!

Y'know- like bac wasser.

I find chocolate easier to consume than normal food right now! I was hardly eating anything so started buying chocolate to get some calories in. I'm at goal weight and maintaining. I'm trying to change it but I'm sure there's others like me!

Omg, yes! So much more chocolate, didn’t crave it before but now it’s never-ending. Totally counter productive to my goals. Which is one of the many reasons I’m finally switching from Semaglutide to Tirz… hoping that will curb the insatiable sweet tooth a bit better!
Sometimes a Hershey's chocolate bar or a Fudgesicle are the only things that sounds good to eat. I know its not supposed to be this way and I wish it wasn't but let's quit talking now and chow down on a giant chocolate bar!

I haven't had any chocolate in months. I have some nice stuff in the drawer.. maybe it is time.

I believe more chocolate is being eaten.

The dirty little secret is that all women have a secret chocolate stash. They all do and don't deny it. Dieting causes a woman to crave chocolate even more and so they will skip a meal to eat more chocolate and it really doesn't hurt the diet. They can't control themselves, it's hormonal.

Saw this on a medical show once.

Nope, no stash here! I make sure it all gets eaten asap if it gets in the house 😅
