I see lots of posts referring to DEXA scans. I would like to know my body fat, muscle, and bone density percentages. Where are y'all getting them and how much do they cost?

I haven’t gotten one because there’s not a location within 2 hours of me, but I’ve seen a lot of people say they’re paying around $200-ish. I’ve seen as low as $100 and as high as $400 cited. I just did a map search for “dexa scans near me,” but the Dexa site also has a Dexa scan location finder.

DEXA LOCATOR

Find a DEXA/DXA Scan Near You for bone health, body composition, weight loss, and living longer. Buy a DEXA Scan with one of our trusted providers and get real solutions provided to you!

$65

Anyone charging more then $100 would be outrages to me but maybe my area is cheaper LOTs of places to chose from here... if i buy 2 of them they are $50 each

If your gym has InBody scales, it's a very good alternative. Not as thorough but my InBody BMI and fat percent was identical to my Dexa and those are the main metrics for me.

Weird. It was just dexa scan dot com but certainly could have been an imposter site. Thanks for letting me know.

I get the same warning from the Google link. IDK🤔🤷‍♂️

In my area the few places I kind find are just silly expensive. Would love to get a scan but it's either a dexa scan or a years worth of tirz added to my stash. Or an order from India.

I get them at no cost from my doctor's office. They're a "direct primary primary" care doctor where we pay a monthly membership fee and DEXA scans are included in the monthly fee. We also get prescriptions at wholesale cost and basically 24/7 access to our physician via email/text. I highly recommend into searching these out.

I paid $175 in MI.

What kind of decisions do folks make based on dexa scan results? Are people adjusting dosing or calorie intake or something differently if the scan comes out one way or another? Or is it mainly just used for tracking?

It's for tracking progress and making adjustments during a body recomp. The scale is a very poor way to track your progress for both fat reduction and muscle building journeys. If you are trying to lose fat, and the scale is showing the weight going down, a dexa scan will tell you if the weight loss is coming from fat loss or muscle loss so adjustments can be made to your diet and workout routine. For me, visceral fat was a huge concern, so when the dexa showed that my visceral fat was rapidly reducing, I knew I was on the right track for fat loss. It also helped me change up my gym routine to target my weak areas since it shows where you are building more or less muscle.

Not that this is relevant to most of you, I suspect, but the closest DEXA scan I can get, according to their website, is about 2.5 hours from me and will set me back a cool $200.

Although to be fair it appears to be the only place in the entire state to have it done, so I guess we're all screwed if we want one up here 😛

Does anyone have and experience with the Hume Health scale/ dexa scan combo? I keep seeing ads for them and would like an unbiased opinion.

I would love one for tracking. Maybe mental health? I still feel so fat. Would love to know how much and of what.

Highly recommend people get at least one DEXA scan. I am visibly quite lean, but was shocked to see how high my body fat percentage is. Fat distribution across the body is quite different for different people based on their genetics. The ones around my location cost ~$150, so I don't do it frequently.

I get my first DEXA scan tomorrow after waiting ~5 weeks for my appointment.

I really wanted a baseline closer to the start of my journey but availability is availability, driving an hour to get this one. I don't remember the exact day I called, but I'm at least 15lb lighter unless I called during my 3lb Christmas bump. 🤣

The price there is $199.

I've been on the fence about it. I should probably pull the trigger and have a go. I'm starting to make decisions with peptides without having any of the appropriate data to back those decisions and that's not a great way to go about this.
