Thanks, ever do bricks of cheddar, Gouda or similar?

I have wanted to try this, is it cold smoked?

What temp and what wood?
I have not tried other cheeses yet. Just your basic cream cheese for crackers.

I do use local WI cheese bricks. There are some good farmer market cheeses to experiment with.

I just use the Costco pellets and smoke for a few hours at the lowest my RegTec will go.

Nice, which pellets?

Fruit tree? Hickory? Other?

It's a mix of Oak, Hickory, Maple and Cherry. 40lbs for like $12. It's quite mild, not overpowering. This year I haven't had time to get in some real hours on the smoker. Mostly meal prepping burgers, 220 for 1.5 - 2 hours. Makes a juicy medium 93/07% patty.

You have the real pit, I'm just cheating with a pellet smoker. I get most of my knowledge from my brother out of Kansas City and keeping a log. Up here in the north we don't have many actual smoke houses, and the only BBQ food truck sells out fast. We could make a killing up here with smoked chicken quarters, something with fast turn around and forget the big cuts of meat. Chicken wings, 1.5 hours on the smoker and deep fried to keep a fresh turnover every hour.

Cars but not because it's a hobby. I've had some bad luck on lemon cars and my daughter has now had two accidents in my vehicles this year (she just got her permit in Feb, one accident in Feb and the second one today). Between mechanical repairs, rentals, accidents/bodywork, and paying way too much for CPO that turned out to be problematic so I lost a lot on resale, I've spent a small fortune. Ugh I don't want to spend anymore money on cars. At least I have a peptide order coming hopefully soon!

And where is my head at.... I recently started collecting Hot Wheels and Matchbox. Yes, I'm akin to a tween.
But now we can afford them!

Try Hot Wheels? But really, that sucks. My daughter totaled the car we gave her a few months ago, so... we gave her another one. Yeah. I suppose kids are the most expensive 'hobby' of all!

True that! Kids sure as shit are the most expensive 🤣

I'm roping her in on repair costs this time, we just need it functional, not pretty.

For many years it was motorcycles.

Then for a decade it was racing. CCS, WERA, ASRA, AHRMA, and a little bit of AMA-Pro. (see avatar).

Then it became the stock market.

Then guns.

Now it's this place:

[Imported image pending local asset: data-attachments-36-36337-9fa04f4bd2bac8d6fbdbd8ec70a192ea.jpg]

Historic but somewhat run-down house that was about to be lost to foreclosure for the 2nd time in 5 years.

We saved it from that, and are now sorta turning it into a gentleman's farm; buying up adjacent farm land, setting up a small grape vineyard, and a fruit tree orchard on the North 40.

Tractors and implements for said farm seem to be looming large as the next money pit...

Responses here make me realize that we are far less poor than we think...or we are extremely bad with money lol.

So...... Woodstock 2027 at your place? Burning Man? Some other hippy-dippy festival?

Pretty sure that's Competition Blend, my go to. Great price, I pay $16 for 40lb bag of Pit Boss at Lowes. I need to get more hickory, apple and cherry, I'm out.

Just saw that last part!

For the past 7 years I have made"Disney" style Chicken legs to hand out on Halloween, it has grown a good following. I fill the main part of the pit and the column with 100-120 legs, they all get taken.

I put them in aluminum Hot Dog bags and hand them out, the parents get a treat and the kids get some good protein before the candy rush.

I've always been into single stack and production so 1911 and M&P9 Pro but I certainly recommend a 2011 if you're into it.
I would love to own a 1911. It is my favorite even though it is too big for me. I'm only 5'1" and now down to 100 lbs. but the most fun gun when I'm at the range. I own a Shield Plus, which I love, but it doesn't compare.

Forgot to mention it was the competition blend from Costco.

BTW - if you're not familiar with Jeremy Yoder (Mad Scientist BBQ on youtube), he has some fantastic content. As does Bradley Robinson (Chud's BBQ)...
I watched them all over the years, Meat Church etc. Good for ideas.

I don't know if I could keep up with our neighborhood. There are a few houses that drag out their bars for shots and drinks. I'd end up having an after bar in the garage and not enough food.

Lol..

So I setup in the barn, have 4-5 neighbors give out candy here so the kids get more than chicken, I also do Fireball shots.

We do ping pong, and corn hole, it is usually 20+ people at the house..

Last year did a bunch of thighs and smoked sausage for the gang, sometimes hot dogs.

My teenage girls compete with my double stack 1911s, and their preference is my Staccato XL which is huge, but they run it really well!
Cool pic!!! 😍

My guy wants a Staccato. But here in Cali, there are so many restrictions. I think he wants the XC(?) but it is like $4k plus 2 types of taxes. He has a really cool modified P365 and a 10cal Glock. We don't have as many pewpews as we want since between his hobbies and mine (not including ammo), I'm surprised we aren't completely broke by now!

Something about it just feels right 😀 Which dimension is too large for you? I'm sure something suitable could be found. I always suggest 9mm 1911's for ladies.

In another thread some folks were discussing what they spent money on before peptides.

I thought it would make for it's own fun topic.

For me lately it's been motorcycles and ammo.

This thing eats rear tires for a snack. I get about 2 days out of a tire at the track. ($290/per). But it'll go 175mph!

I also shoot USPSA and to compete and train takes some dollars.

Trying to balance building my stash and still doing fun things has been a challenge!
Games and hardcovers. Boat.

I dont have time to play video games or read but do still buy videogames and hardcovers. I dont need a boat but still got it. Maintaining the thing at a dock is stupid and expensive. Should sell it.
