Hi all new to rets and have some on the way. Just curious of what types of food I can eat or what you recommend would white rice and pasta be ok to eat obviously with some sort of protein. Thanks all

Lol.

People are gonna recommend all sorts of things to you that all contradict each other. Personally low carb works best for me and any amount of rice or pasta makes me immediately plateau no matter how little of it I eat. But then a bunch of people on another thread say they do high-carb and are still losing weight. It's kinda something you have to figure out on your own based on your own goals for your own desired body composition.

Yeah am just useless with foods and what I need to eat to still function.

Welcome! Reta will change your appetite so that you can eat a bit and then your body will tell you STOP. There's no wiggle room there unless you want to make yourself ill.

Generally, start with protein on your plate, then eat your veggies, and only then eat some carbs. Carbs aren't evil or anything but they won't help you meet protein goals, which are important for maintaining muscle and general health when you have a limited food intake.

My favorite lazy meals are bagged salad kits from the supermarket with some air fryer salmon or chicken on top. Slightly more effort is a rice base, broccoli or other steamed veggie, and whatever meat is on sale. You can get microwave steamer veggie bags in the freezer aisle, or you can put some water in a bowl and cover it with a paper plate and just microwave veggies that way. If I'm feeling fancy, I mix up some stir fry sauce (can't seem to post a link but you can google "Real Chinese All Purpose Stir Fry Sauce)". You can also find bagged quinoa and other such things to use as a base for a protein bowl.

As for fast food, chicken wraps at McD or BK are fine as are regular burgers in a pinch. If you know you'll get full easily, you can usually get burgers in a lettuce wrap. Poke and Pho with 2x proteins are my go-to takeout options, but I don't finish all the noodles. Wings and BBQ are good on occasion, but the sauce is high in sugar so it's a treat.

The day before your shot (if dosing weekly) you'll be able to eat a little bit more. If you can't eat at all, consider backing down on the dose for a few weeks. It's a balance.

Protein, good carbs. A meat protein for dinner ever night, steamed veggies, tomato, sweet potato or plenty of other good options. No fried, no frozen processed. Simple protein, good carb breakfast. I'm sure fast food like McD's is fine once in a while, but we haven't had any in at least 20 years, our personal choice. Your appetite should be way less with a almost feeling full on Reta. Everyone ays eat what you want, and you basically can to a certain extent.

Haven’t changed what I eat. I just keep track of calories/macros and eat less of the “bad” stuff.

Net: I have to be more conscious to eat carbs.

Context: I was so trained in low-carb that once the reta kicked in, it didn’t even cross my mind to eat them. Adding them in slowly, want them to fuel my exercise and minimize muscle catabolism.

I don't really limit my food too much except I try to cut carbs and sugar when I can. I try not to eat things that will cause too much sulfur gas buildup, which seems like anything with protein nowadays. I used to eat a lot of eggs before taking reta but I can't too much now. I don't get hungry until evening. I've never been a breakfast eater, but I try to drink a protein shake that I mix collagen powder into and I usually drink that around 1:30. It is a struggle to get enough protein because of the sulfer issue. I guess I am a super responder, because I can eat whatever I want any time and still lose weight. Will that change over time? Probably.

I normally do a couple things for breakfast: (one of) an omlete, yogurt protein drink (oikos pro) or an early lunch.. Then lunch is a meal prep of chicken, potatoes and brocolli.. Then something small for dinner it really varies - maybe a protein shake, protein bar, maybe a small portion of dinner, etc..

I also will crush a sparkling water drink (perrier, or even those kirkland flavoured sparkling ones) if I'm feeling hungry throughout the day and usually that fills me right up - I know most people probably don't like carbonated drinks on Reta, but I like how full I feel from it lol. I'm also probably low on calories tbh but I'm only on month 2 so I'm still enthusiastic about my goals ahah

Hey Jaylan!

Honestly, you can eat things like white rice and pasta; but with R I think I’ll get better results if i prioritize protein and keep carbs more controlled.

I don’t have a lot of time to make meals right now, so what’s been working for me:

Breakfast: Costco egg whites + 3 corn tortillas + salsa

Between meals: Costco Premier Protein shakes to help hit protein goals

Dinner: Chicken + veggies (keep it simple)

Before bed: Another protein shake or some cottage cheese

Water water water

Electrolytes

Water

Water

&…water

My personal approach is protein first, then add carbs around it. Reta seems to work better when your diet is dialed in; Not just eating whatever.

Everyone’s a little different though, so you’ll figure out what works for you pretty quick 👍

Beast luck on your journey, Friend. I’m excited to hear what works out best for you!

Best,

Reta & Tirz seem to make you want to eat better in general

Breakfast-Have never been a breakfast person but trying to make myself eat. I usually make a batch of Kodiak style protein pancakes with sourdough starter (only sweetener is a banana I add) & whichever protein powder I use which is low carb. Or a slice of fresh sourdough

Lunch-A chicken wrap with a protein sauce I make w Greek yogurt (different flavor depending on mood) sometimes the wrap is low carb sometimes not. Or a salad w apples, & a T of nuts (chopped walnuts, almonds or pecans, or a mix), different mixed lettuce & homemade dressing I make different ones miso, ginger, strawberry or balsamic

Snack-If I feel like a snack might have like a C of smartfood popcorn or the Aldi one, Fruit like strawberries when fresh. A treat would be something like strawberries & a dollop of cool whip

Dinner-Different every night jerk chicken & potato salad, protein chicken pasta (buffalo, Alfredo, etc), Ground turkey Korean style on rice w a veggie like green beans, mapo tofu w ground turkey, healthier butter chicken (Greek yogurt & coconut milk), whatever it is it has to taste good

If I didn't eat enough or reached protein goals will add a shake w protein, collagen & flax seeds

Once in a while a piece of dark chocolate

This is just an idea I don't eat all this everyday I just make sure to get in enough food/protein

I like Mr Tortilla low carb tortillas, a little bit of meat or plant-based meat, some chopped cucumbers and a little chopped onion, and a little bit of avocado. Variations on this (the tortilla, the protein, some kind of non-starchy vegetables, a little avocado) wind up being most of my meals.

if you want to just make it easy try to prioritize whole foods. think ingredients rather than a meal you can get somewhere, and find the ones you like, how you like to cook them, which ones you like paired together and then find a (preferably lowcal) sauce or again you can figure out your own with things like yogurt or blended cottage cheese, maybe a little oil of some kind and some spices or pre made flavor packs.

i eat basically the same thing everyday for dinner 250g cooked meat, a bag of steamer veggies of some kind. a 90second microwave rice pack. then i blend cottage cheese with a cheese powder for a higher protein cheese sauce. mix it all up with some seasoning and hot sauce and plop it in a couple fiber tortillas and boom easy dinner everyday. if i start getting bored switch the meat, swap the veggies, change the rice flavor, get the fancier flavored fiber tortillas, try new hot sauces. just mix and match to your hearts content.

and make sure you are getting the fiber.. i have no experience with reta but if i don't get like 45+grams of fiber on my tirz im literally shitting brinks

So what about the frozen dino nuggets, hot pockets, Mt. dew and Ramen? I've never tried that hard to lose weight and our diet sucks. All posts i see people seem to really be watching what they eat to start with. Male 6ft 250lb pretty active but not working out

just make some easy swaps.

real good chicken nuggets.

lean pockets? idk if there are any actually good options here

mnt dew zero.. i have 20+ 12 packs of mnt dew zero stacked up myself

protein ramen, low carb ramen etc there are many types of noodles and you could make your own.

or what i like to do before i eat something i know i shouldn't eat alot of is just power down a bag of steamed veggies, or a can of veggies if i dont have steamers, before i eat the "normal" meal.

little things

If you’re going to eat white rice, refrigerate it overnight to make it a resistant starch.

Otherwise, make sure you meet your protein goals- 1-1.2gms per kg of body weight. I keep canned tuna and chicken on hand plus frozen chicken thighs and pork chops. I also love sushi, and will make a salad and toss cubed (raw) tuna marinated in a soy based sauce. I drink Darigold fit milk w/higher protein content and eat low/no fat cottage cheese.

If you aren’t sure what to eat, just eat a protein source, add a vegetable and maybe rice. Me, I’m boring- I’ll eat a steak or a couple chicken thighs and a few oz of broccoli or green beans or a tomato/cucumber salad w/a vinegar based dressing. When my appetite isn’t there I’ll mix unflavored protein, carnation instant breakfast high protein and milk and blend together.

I try to eat at least 150g of protein bare minimum, by the time I’ve done that I’m usually too stuffed to eat much else. Its ends up being OMAD usually with a protein shake if needed.
