What tipped the scale for you in your decision to stack your GLP with another or add in an amylin?

Hi everyone 🙂

I am at a point now where I have to make a decision here soon. There are plenty of good options for me, but I want to hear why you chose the route you chose.

For those of you who stayed on a non-max dose of your GLP-1 and added in another GLP or Amylin, instead of titrating up, can you tell me why? What factors did you consider before you decided?

(I did search the forum, if there is already a post about this, I am sorry 😢 )

So for me, I started out on tirz once a week. Well toward the 5 day mark when the half life is up, I got suuuuper hungry. So I started splitting the dose and doing two shots a week to keep the food noise down. I just kind of decided to try reta for one of the two shots instead of tirz for both to see if I can get some of that glucagon activating goodness as well. I love how well tirz is working for me, so thats why I haven't made a full switch to reta.

I added 2mg/day Tesamorelin to 4-5mg/wk Retatrutide for belly reduction. Worked well. I've finished up all my Tesa and unless the current Reta dose of 6mg/wk can't keep the belly down, I'm done with it.

My case may be unique due to high dose prednisone and Hydrocortisone for disease management. Pred and Hydro (a similar corticosteroid) are well known to directly cause weight gain, large belly and moon face, in much the same way as Addison's disease does.

I'm in maintenance (for 6 months now) on 7.5mg tirz. I have one side-effect that has been persistent and obnoxious. I get one EXTREMELY dry eye... just the right one. I tried cutting back to 6mg on the tirz, and that helped my eye, but I didn't feel the lower dose was sufficient for maintenance. So I went back to my 7.5mg.

I recently decided to add cagri and cut back on the tirz to see if I can relieve the damnable dry eye. It's only been 2 weeks, and I'm adjusting the 2 very slowly... so I don't know yet if it will help.

This weekend I added 2mg of Reta in. I am/was on 10mg split dose 5/5 a week of Tirz...I am close to goal weight and wanted to start some reta and see what that does for me. Things I think I will benefit from are less appetize suppression and the fat burning 3rd component...I will see if I can flip my dosing from Tirz heavy to Reta heavy...

Plus I got a pile of Reta and wanted to play with it... 😎 👍

How interesting! Any RHR increases or notable feels from the 2mg?

How much Cag did you add in, any sides?

I feel like my weekly dose is like my security blanket at this point lol, I would be nervous to falter there, but how are you finding the lower dose of tirz with the added Reta? How much Reta did you add in?

Had been on reta(7mg) for a bit and was happy with my weight loss but the appetite suppression and food noise was just so much. Added in 2.5 mg of tirz as a cheaper option to calm down food noise and appetite and it’s been great. It hasnt stopped me from getting my calories in but with the little addition it has stopped my food noise almost completely.

So when I added reta in, I was doing 2 5mg shots of tirz. So when I swapped to reta for one of them, I brought it in low at 1mg. So one shot of tirz at 5mg and a shot of reta at 1mg. That was quickly not enough, so I upped it to 2mg after a few weeks. At this point I am up to 7.5mg of tirz and 2mg of reta which seems to be a good spot for me so far.

I was getting bizarre side effects from tirzepatide and wanted to try retatrutide to see if I got the benefit without the side effects. Still early on but it seems to be going well so far so fingers crossed

Reta 2.5mg twice a week for a few months now. Food noise was gone from the start and I lost 40 lbs quickly. Food noise has been slowly returning lately though but thankfully just for protein-rich foods - but I worry the return of hunger pangs may be a slipperty slope back into chocolate, chips, fries, cookies and ice cream. As a result, some tirz is on the way so I'll slip that slowly and quietly into the protocol to see how that inpacts cravings. I'm also several weeks (10 weeks today) into 2.0 mgs of Tesa on a daily basis hoping that would speed up the disappearance of visceral fat but the results have not been dramatic.

My food noise is coming back, not severe but I dont want it to get there.

Thanks for your input!

none so far...if any thing RHR and BP were a skoosh lower than normal. The only added feels were a little more burping and a bit of throat 'feel', almost like acid reflux, but no acid reflux if that makes sense...

I was happy on Tirze at 2.25 but weightloss eventually slowed to nothing..I was reading others stories on forums and heard all about the Tirz fatigue and anhedonia at higher doses, and I saw that a few were stacking Reta. They seemed much happier so I decided to try that instead of titrating upward. I started very low, .5 and then added more slowly. only side effects was the odd skin crawling or sensitive spots, which went away.

It worked really well for weightloss for me, and the tirz keeps my food noise away.

I tried to add in reta 1mg while dropping my tirz from 10mg to 7.5mg. I was in an autoimmune flare up and feeling really cruddy all around when I tried this. It didn't go well so I'm back to just tirz and doing 5mg every 4ish days. My main issue was SEVERE fatigue, but I couldn't figure out if it was all tirz or also whatever was flaring up contributing. Since doing 5mg doses I have normal energy and can eat again so that's a win. Still losing about 2-3lbs a month and I'm almost to goal. I'm at that point now where I'm happy with how I look but there's still extra fat that can leave lol. I'll only get faster doing sports with 15 less pounds slowing me down. Of course my definition of extra fat to lose is if I can't see my abs then I've got extra fat to lose. If I can recomp 5-10lbs of muscle and lose another 10lbs fat I'd be really, really content with myself. But I've yet to strength train, weekly competitive sports games are my only exercise so it'll not happen by itself lol.

One word of caution, I read members here talking about a lack of food noise suppression on Reta. If you need or want food noise suppression most, take Tirz.

I take 7.5mg (Friday) Tirz and 4mg(Tuesday) of Reta. I added Reta in as a mid-week booster. I didn't want to titrate up in Tirz and I like the fat burning qualities of Reta. As I get to goal, it doesn't look like I'll need more Tirz and will likely stay steady of Reta.

This is where I'm at right now. I am going to give it a couple of more weeks before I decide if I want to add tirz or not. I split my reta every 3.5 days so I still am in the process of figuring out the timing of a 2nd GLP pin. I might titrate up, I haven't really decided yet.

@sheilarae74 yes! I’ll be interested to hear what you wind up doing!

Thanks @Seasonal1 ! I am on 10mg of tirz and I love it! Interesting to hear why people chose to add in either Reta or cag and at what dose and frequency!

@amosmylove and @desinr-gal thank you for your responses! I have a substantial amount to drop still, and I appreciate your experience and insight.
