What dose of reta are you at?

Story of a slow responder here…

My starting weight is 285lbs, with a BMI of about 36. I was at 300 at my heaviest in Oct-Nov of last year when I started OMAD fasting and getting more active, which got me down to my starting weight by Jan.

For the past 4 months on OMAD I’ve completely stalled out - no change at all in weight even with occasional 36 hr fasts and increased walking.

So I started reta 2 weeks ago and also started really ramping up my activity (rowing machine Mon-Fri week, and adding kettlebell workouts Mon, Wed, Fri))

Week 1: I took an initial 1mg shot waited 4 days to check for any immediate sides (no issues) and took another 1mg.

Week 2: I’m now doing 2mg every 7 days as my plan for the rest of the first month.

The scale has hardly moved (currently 284 thanks to lees food and more intense workouts). I do feel more immediately sated from OMAD eating time than before, and do occasionally have to keep hydrated, but otherwise I hardly notice any side effects.

I’m now just focusing on getting really into being active and (not so patiently) hoping to see some actual reta-results at the end of month 1 in a few weeks. Even if it’s still slow the mild appetite help and motivation to not lose muscle and bone while on reta really helps motivate a lifestyle change that I now want to upkeep.

You're motivated, I hope eventually the reta begins to work along side your discipline.

I took my first .5mg pin yesterday, my wife did the same. My wife felt great today, energetic. I, on the other hand, felt a bit lethargic but nothing that a big cup of strong coffee wouldn't fix.

I did feel a bit of light fatigue but it seems to pass quickly - just a day or two after the shot.

I know it’s not the same and isn’t likely significant but I’m curious if there is there any difference between how you and the wife respond to flu shots etc? In our household I hardly experience any sides while the family gets wiped out.

Since we've been married I don't think we've gotten the flu shot but prior to that when I would get a shot I'd end up getting flu like symptoms lol

How much have you lost in almost 3 months?
15lbs, however, I'm not trying to lose really - It's just to suppress some of that insatiable hunger.

Ive been on it for two years more or less. With some periods of cagrilintide or tirzepatide. But i always gained weight on those. I can maintain or loose a little on 8mg sometimes i do 12 but i feel tired then.

My issue is i need to be on antipsychotics and i gain 1-2kg a week when im not on reta. I tried switching antipsychotics multiple times but weight gain is the same for everything I tried. And some i get tits from the high prolactin. Currently I’m doing with Doctor very slow taper of antipsychotic, but will take at least another year to get off if possible at all.

I thought maybe with my lower dose of antipsychotics i can quit reta, but i was mistaken. I quit cold turkey and first 4 weeks went ok, but slowly gained couple kg. But no eating problems in the middle of the night. But past week i again got the 2am i need to eat now episodes. Then i have nothing at home, but its literally like hmm let’s start eating pure sugar.

So now i restarted the reta

These drugs could be a godsend for people on antipsychotics, the weight gain seems like an almost universal problem and people end up having to choose between mental and physical health... would be amazing to see something like a low-dose GLP1 just routinely prescribed to people on antipsychotics

Anyways I was on 2-4 weekly for almost a year, stopped for a few months and then pinned 4mg ten days ago and am struggling to eat lol. Once this wears off I'll probably go to 1-2mg every 5-6 days

Hello! 🙂

I've started 6 weeks ago:

2mg

2mg

2.5mg

3mg

3.5mg

I'm 192cm height (6’4”), started weight 112kg (247lbs).

My starting dose was 2mg and get little bit higher because in last 6 years I was on litatrudite (from pharmacy, because of diabetes type 2, but it stop working at all).

Actual dosage is very good and I'll stay on 3.5 or even drop to 3mg today (6th dosage).

I'm getting it every Sunday, at Saturdays I started to be little hungry but it’s managable.

One day with a little bit more calories doesn’t ruin my protein/fat/carb counting for every product I've put into my mouth everyday, so there is no problem.

I plan to stay in „1 injection per week” protocol.

Besides I started at the similar time heavy workouts on the Gym, 3x week but I’ll extend it. Plus bicycle rides and walks.

The spring has started in my country so it’s good time to start making good changes in my life 🙂

I'm trying to burn fat but not muscles. So i want to be patient and don’t make to big calorie deficit.

At this time I'm 4.5-5kg (9.9-11lbs) less weight, including supplementing creatine monohydrate that gives some water to the muscles.

0.5mg

About me: M/50/started at 273lbs/5'10"/former power lifter and athlete - 3 years ago i was still able to 1100lbs club before injury. I have not been able to get below 230lbs for the last 25 years no matter what I did. I can go on and on here but was still very athletic for a chubby guy and it is beyond frustrating.

Week 1 at 0.5 i lost 3.7 pounds. Week 2 no change. However I changed nothing in my life. I am recently recovered from an injury and a multi year work assignment out of state. This week I start calorie deficit and back to training.

Starting week 3, I just took my third shot at 0.5mg. I decided it was best for me to start low and titrate slowly. I am sticking to my plan because I have strange reactions to medications outside the norm as well as family history of the same. My intention is 0.5mg > 1mg > 2mg at 4 weeks each and then go from there.

The side effects I am having: I am occasionally craving salt which is not normal for me. (I am mindful of staying hydrated). I sometimes have trouble sleeping (getting into a deep sleep) before reta, now I go into a different kind of deep sleep, like sleeping like a bear. It's been two weeks and it is Very Strange but good. Otherwise so far so good.

I'm getting sleepy earlier and sleep like a baby. Last night, my wife and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the UFC fight, it was the first time we experienced for ourselves the appetite suppression and not wanting too much fatty foods. For the first time, I didn't order wings in a sauce. I finished 8 wings but didn't finish my fries. My wife are 4 wings and didn't finish her mac and cheese. My wife probably lost 4 lbs just from reducing inflammation. We are on our first week (2 doses of .5) Amazing stuff.
