So I have an order I placed through JKL on 4/30, got tracking 5/1 and my package was scanned at the post office same day. Expected delivery was 5/4 shipped from Oregon. My package hasn’t been scanned since they received it on 5/1.

Long story short I went to post office and they told me 2 reasons that my package hasn’t moved. 1. usps gave over 100,000 of their employees early retirement. 2. because gas prices are so high, that mail services everywhere have slowed down.

So if you have an option for expedited shipping or ups, fed ex, etc… Pay a few extra dollars and get it.

JKL is gonna file the insurance claim on the 15th day. So they will get paid for the “free reship”.

Anyways sorry for rambling on just wanted to share the info with y’all. ☺️

Well shit, I ordered from China and my order went out the 29th and arrived at my house on the 8th with some shipping service I never heard of until then called Gofo? Maybe the post office should subcontract to Gofo?

I heard it was 10,000 cut. They also updated packages to be slower. Local packages that used to be 1-2 days are now 1-5 days for example. A recent one like 20min from me said it was going to take 6 days, but ended up taking 4.

You would think it would modernize & be faster instead of turning back time (especially since they raise rates 2x a year now. 1st for the holidays, then they don't change the rates back down & then raise them again once the new year starts). They complain about letters slowing down/losing money from that but packages make them so much more money since everyone shops online now so it doesn't make sense. China is lucky they have SF & they ship packages overnight for $3. Wish we had their mail system!!

USPS has a package of mine somewhere... going to Utah.

They accepted the package in NY on May 5.

Dallas Tx on May 7.

Pennsylvania May 9.

Unknown location at the moment.

I guess that's better than the package I ordered from PA that went through Guam... so far.

What I was reading is they have to be sent through sort machines now & they are no longer doing any manual sorting so even if it has to go far out of the way this is what they are doing. Sounds like its going to cost more in the long run though

Similar experience here. Package got to NYC from China. Then went to Chicago. Then to Miami. Then to Dallas, where they determined that the postage was counterfeit. That was where tracking ended. I would have gladly paid COD and eaten the cost of the vendor's incompetence at that point, but that was never offered. I never got the package.

The USPS is definitely a shit-show and their service is getting worse all the time, but I can't find where they've had that large of a decrease in head-count. Employee numbers have actually gone up by more than 35,000 in the 2020-2025 period based on the link below. I think there have been more layoffs and attrition so far in 2026, but if it was upwards of 100k, it would be news that's too big to hide.

I split my time between 2 different states and I get my mail forwarded from one location to another multiple times each year. What used to be a 5-7 day lag in delivery to the new location has turned into 3-4 weeks consistently. I agree with using the UPS or FedEx option whenever you can.

I love USPS but it's not perfect that's for sure. I've mailed hundreds of packages over the years with 99% success rate on not being lost and on time. But dang, it's easy to get discouraged when I have that ONE package that time matters.

Update: Just wanted to fill y’all in. So post office can’t locate package still. Finally got JKL to refund me. I would of be happy with a reship but that wasn’t offered and she is really hard to communicate with. Overall experience I wouldn’t order from them again due to their lack of communication. It’s not their fault the package was lost but I would avoid the Oregon warehouse.

That sucks. I DO NOT have good luck with FedEx. They always just throw the packages at my garage and run.
My FedEx guy will sit a package on my porch 6" from a parcel box clearly marked...Parcel Box! And my FedEx account instructions say Use Parcel Box. Nah, can't be bothered to lift a flap up. Geeze

A year late, 1k too short. USPS service was already degraded since the DOGE days. All of the test groups I was part of required UPS since were already experiencing slowness from USPS.

At least it was your house. My first ever grey buy got delivered by Fedex to my asshole next-door neighbor's house, despite the giant numbers on mine.

Had the notification not had a picture that clearly wasn't my house, and had said neighbor not seen me wielding my phone and its camera outside his within 5 minutes of delivery, I'm sure he wouldn't have rushed out carrying the stolen but not yet opened properly-addressed box. Police!!!

All 4 of my delivery people are the same, and have been well over a year, and some longer. USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex and Amazon. Obviously someone fills in for them once in a while. All put stuff in the garage if the door is open. Put stuff in the front entry up against the door in case it rains.

I've never personally had ANY problems with usps... UPS and FEDEX on the other hand... They absolutely suck. FEDEX always underestimates their delivery time by days..if it arrives at all. And they handle their packages like their ex girlfriend/boyfriend is inside.

I also ordered from overseas, and from order time to wheels down in Chicago was 4 days! Very fast, considering previous order timelines. According to tracking it is "Clearance processing completed-import" which the LLM's all say means it cleared customs. Last mile shipper is listed as GOFO. It has been sitting at Chicago since May 8 with no movement shown. (sigh). They can GOFO themselves.

Update:

Denver on May 13.

SLC May 15.

Hopefully they can get it in the right box now.

Most likely, they tied the package to the underside of a boat returning to Cuba after dropping off illegals, and a Florida hurricane blew it off course into Puerto Rico.
