(warning — I’m just venting and complaining, just trying to get it out of my system)

Kinda liked being back to my Sunday routine of the gym and a walk/jog after lunch. I tried to lay in bed as long as I could today since I had nothing else to do besides the gym and I wanted to soak it up. Took updated check-in photos after I lifted, because I needed to see where I was after the last three months of recovery.

Many regrets. So many regrets.

(Before shoulder surgery on left in each comparison, today on right in each comparison)

I have since spent the last few hours debating if I was gonna post them — I am so beyond angry seeing that I lost three fucking years of progress and growth in those last three months I’ve been stuck trying to salvage what I could without being able to do my usual work. I knew my arms would be ruined, as a result of the shoulder, bicep/lat/teres rearrangement, but my quads are gone, and wtf is with all the fatty cellulite shit in my inner thighs and stomach that was not there before? Ugh.

Back to square one I guess!

Sometimes there are ups and downs, back and forths, steps forward and steps backward. That is part of having a human body that can have problems and failures. You needed to give your body the time it needed to heal properly. You would have been even sorrier or more upset if you didn't allow proper time for healing and then developed problems that would have caused an even longer period of healing time or continued "destruction" of the shoulder which would have resulted in additional failures of the body. No need, truly, to beat yourself up. You took the time you needed to heal. Now you can go forth and slowly get back to where you were, secure in the fact you gave your body the time it needed to properly heal so you wouldn't have continued problems. Sometimes we as people tend to get way to impatient with our bodies.

I am so beyond despair.. I am in the same boat though I had nowhere near the muscles you have. I do have some expertise with the inside though and in this public space, all I will say is that it is not square one that you're back on... More like square 2.5

I had shoulder replacement last August. Definitely set me back, but I used my rehab and rebuild phase to learn (still learning) patience and stoic ways with a grateful heart. Use my energy to build my mind, spirit, and slowly build back my body. It’s working

Trust the process for a better day to come.

Split the difference at 1.75.

You guys are all right. I really hoped it wasn’t going to be this big of a backwards step.

I knew the arms were gonna be lost, well the one anyway. But I really hoped I could maintain the mass at the bottom. 🤷‍♀️ Still many months to recover the shoulder so still many months til I can hack squat and really hammer the legs again.

ok, ok I'll cheer you up... next time it won't take 3 years... more like 4 months if done right.
