Hi all, I’m currently using a 5mg pen of Mounjaro and am trying to better understand what to expect if transitioning to grey tirz

A few things I’m hoping to learn from those with more experience:

Are the effects generally comparable when the product is accurately dosed and verified?

Is it typical to continue at the same dose (e.g., 5mg), or is it safer to start lower when switching?

I’m not looking for sources, just trying to understand best practices and approach this as safely as possible.

TIA!!

Cant comment on like for like as i was on mounjaro from docs, moved over to Reta when i done my research. Better overall and cheaper from the grey markets and on 2.5mg of Reta i get the same feelings i did when i was on 10mg of Monjaro buddy.

so i would suggest you'll be fine to stay at the same strength as it should be like for like providing all the correct testing was done( same purity etc ) I'm sure there all coming from the same place anyway we just pay for the ridiculous mark up and fancy labels with a pen lol..

Enjoy and welcome to the real world lol Peps are literally changing lives

#1 - Grey market products are usually overfilled and not identical. For example my very 1st grey purchase was advertised to be a kit (10 vials) of 10mg semaglutide (ozempic/wegovy) what I got was shown to be an average of 12mg based on the 3 vials that were sent to be tested.

#2 - The overfill usually doesn't matter that much when taking a GLP1. Once more using my first purchase as an example again .. if my target dose was 2mg and I used it according to what I bought (10mg) each vial would be 5 doses but since the vials average is really about 12mg I would be giving myself a dose closer to 2.4mg instead of 2mg. I suppose that extra .4mg might matter to a person that gets a bothersome side effect but if they go into it knowing that its overfilled they can adjust accordingly.

In your case lets say you buy a kit of 30mg tirzepitide from my usual supplier. Their last batch tested out at an average of 35mg. You have a target dose of 5mg so each vial would give you 7 doses. (its your choice to keep that vial for 7 weeks or not, officially we aren't supposed to keep anything longer than 28 days .. but hey .. you do you) If you take your doses according to the advertised amount your vial would be 6 doses of 5.8mg instead of 5mg. In the grand scheme of things I don't think that extra .8mg would matter much.

Any who ... that was my long winded way of saying ... watch out for the overfill if you think it matters.

When I switched I stayed at the same dose. What MsGizmo says is true about the overfill. There's usually a little bit more than advertised in the vial. It hasn't been a problem for me so far.

If it's a worry you can split your dose for a couple of weeks. I do that regularly anyway. So 2.5 on Sunday and 2.5 on Wednesday to get your 5.0 for the week is an example. So if you have a little overfill you won't get it all at once. Just something to consider.

Overfill or underfill is almost always less than 10%, and in most circumstances does not really matter. The only situation it might is if you are very sensitive to side effects from tiny dose increases.

Started on Zep, ran up to 10mg, switched to compounded, same, switched to grey, same. I stayed at 10mg from all sources. All mostly the same except I didn’t like the additive in the compounded.

Me and my wife moved from MJ 5mg dosage directly to grey 5mg, no difference, except the outrageous price difference of course 😉

If there was somewhat of a difference, it was in a positive way, so to say, since the grey dosages tend to be slightly more potent, as the vials are sligthly overfilled, more often than not (fopr example, a typical grey "TR30 vial" (30mg/vial) usually contains anywhere from 31 to even 36mg of Tirz).

I did the same , lower the mounjaro pen dose to 2.5 until you finish the vial and add the 2.5 with gray and increase it to 5 when you’re done.

Is more or less the same thing.

You can also buy a pen and a 3ml cartridge and use it in the same way like the mounjaro pen, if it is easier for you.

Don’t stress about the exact dosage, it will be more or less there +-0,5-1mg is not a big deal
