My dosing schedule for my first month was 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.5mg and now 2mg. Only started feeling a little appetite suppression on week 4. I my BMI is between 30-35% right now. I'm 5'7" 210lbs. Since I'm not really feeling it at 2mg, should I jump to 3mg or 4mg on week 5? I know reta hits people different. I do workout 4-5x/week and diet is alot better. Should I do 2mg for Three more weeks? And what do you really feel when you're on the right dose for reta for yourself?

Tirate up slower. Some of you don't even give the stuff time to work. No instant results.
What is the benefit of slower titration of Reta, aside from avoiding sides for big’ns?

If it was Sema or Tirz, titrating to maintain effectiveness (appetite suppression) makes sense. Reta’s primary effectiveness isn’t appetite suppression, it’s GCGR, which is dose dependent.

I just jumped to 4mg after 4 weeks of 2mg. To be honest I wish I wouldn’t have. My heart rate was a little elevated at 2mg but at 4mg my sleeping heart rate has been 80 and 82 the last two nights. If you haven’t been tracking your resting and sleeping heart rate I would get a good couple weeks of data on it before going to 4mg.

I know patience is the key. I guess when I read how people are losing 10-20lbs in a month it makes me feel like i'm doing something wrong. I'm eating right and working out. I don't want to rush it, but I also dont want to stay at a dose where its not doing anything.

I'm just basing it on the Lilly studies. It builds up slower to help with the side effects as you mention. I personally don't understand that .5 and 1 mg dose, but I don't know enough. Every Lilly study starts at 2mg that I've seen, but that was back in December.

Thanks for the advice

10lbs/month, that's 2.5lbs/week. I loose between 1-2lbs/week and I'm on 6mg. Everyone is different though. You do you and what make you comfortable.

What week/month are you at now with your 6mg dose? Did you also start in the 1mg -2mg range?

You've just now reached even the starting dose of the Eli Lilly study. I see no reason to not titrate up in 2 or 3 weeks. Slow and low isn't always good. Sometimes it's not utilizing the medication well.
Will do!

My 2 cents. If you are losing weight, at least .5lb a week do not increase. Slow wins the race. If you stop loosing for 4 weeks then increase 0.5-1mg. idea is to find lowest effective and tolerable dose for your self. Everyone is different. I personally know someone who lost 80lb in 9 months only on 2,5mg.

If I remember correctly Reta hits baseline efficacy at 5 weeks - if you jump to 4 your pumping it into your system without the initial dose being fully effective. That's typically why people stay at a dose for a month at a time, to truly see how the drug affects your system at full efficacy. Personally, if you're on 2 and only 4 weeks in, you're jumping for no reason. Do another week at 2, then a few weeks at 2.5, then jump to 3. This is a marathon, not a sprint. As far as what you feel... you'll know, I promise, you'lll know.

It’s wild how it affects everyone different. I started at 1 and stayed there 5 weeks. The first week I couldn’t look at food and lived on protein shakes. lost 20 with not much visible muscle loss. I am also on 100mg hrt. The last 2 I bumped to 1.5.

Keep in mind the half life and compounding levels each week. Even though I’m at 1.5 my current level is 2.5, that’s why they say stay at a dose 4 weeks and only increase if you are tolerating sides. Finally, I’m convinced Reta was designed to let hunger creep in for healthy refeeds to fuel glucagon and you can’t use that to measure efficacy. Finally finally you should be drinking a ton of water and water retention will fluctuate and affect the scale.

Increasing doses or not should be based on side effects, weight loss rate and hunger. If you are hungry and finding it difficult to stick to eating what you would like to eat to lose weight and do not have significant side effects, then increasing doses makes sense. If you have side effects at 2mg like some nausea, then going more slowly to 3mg or waiting makes sense. If you are losing weight at a rate you are comfortable with and not hungry all the time then staying at that dose makes sense.

Check out GLP plotter . Your current dose will not hit maximum levels for nearly 4 more weeks, so keep that in mind, as you have really only had one week at 2mg due to increasing the dose every week and starting super low. Your start BMI is 34 so you are very likely to need higher doses than 2mg in the long term, but increasing dose after only one week at 2mg does increase the odds of getting side effects. I would not recommend increasing to 4mg after only 1 week at 2mg. Maybe 3mg if you are really hungry with minimal side effects.
