I’m in my second week on reta and I’m noticing some clear mood swings.

For those who have already used it: how long did this initial phase last for you? After how many weeks did your mood stabilize? Share your experience.

I’ve been on Reta about a month, started very low dose. .5 mg/wk, slowly titrated up to 2mg a week, targeting 4mg/wk/ split in 2 shots. No issues with mood swings.

Started with my wife and I's rats at 1.0 mg 5 weeks ago Saturday, had no real issues other than some minor GI issues, likely due to our being OMAD and carnivore and adjusting to not eating just once a day to satiety. No mood issues whatsoever (beyond being a crotchety old man to begin with, er, my rat being that, that is...). I've ramped up to 1.5 for the last 3 weeks and wife's "subject" is at 2 and has been for 3 weeks because her rat is fluffier than mine. No noticeable mood swings/changes for her either, though. I still have some GI issues about 2 days after dosing, but those are manageable (not to hijack your thread). I hope your rat find relief from the mood swings!

Microdosed at .333 mg for 6weeks now in week 12 at 1 mg twice a week keeps me at a constant 3 mg saturation, no mood swings at all.
thinking of rolling into a similar profile (lower but similar strategy). How are your results, and was it tolerance (lack of) of the peak after injection that got you doing it twice versus one larger dose?

I studied for a month before I took my first dose. Decided that the microdose was the best way to go to avoid a lot of minor irritating side effects. Also a friend of mine crying about how the effect wore off after a couple days…. I actually dose every 3 days to keep the level more or less constant.

Started at .25 for 2 shots and felt nothing so bumped it up to .33, and I instantly felt a difference. After 6 weeks (definitely losing weight) I was going to make a smaller 2x move up to .7, but since I was taking it for blood sugar, CalmLogic convinced me I wasn’t taking enough to get all the benefits of Reta. So using the plotter I determined that 1 mg was my next step. He was right. Blood sugar much more stable at this level. A lot of anti-inflammatory effects too. And the weight is still dropping. It also seems to have stopped a problem I had with hives. Glad to stop taking that Loratadin. I didn’t start taking Reta for weight so I didn’t weigh myself, and I haven’t yet, lol. But my clothes keep getting too big. Had to buy a new belt. I have been 250 my whole life (61yrs). I’d guess I’m about 210 now.

So much awesomeness in one reply- Thank you! Sounds like you are getting it done and I look forward to fine tuning my own dosage. I started basically at target weight for metabolic benefits and to do a lil body recomp. 59 yo, 175# ~15% bf when started, at about 174 and 13% bf now. The GI issue at peak was the least obtrusive this week so I'll run another same dose this Saturday and see if I am acclimating or if that was just a fluke. Thank you, and happy researching!

Why the rat as a reference? I don't understand the point to it? Everyone knows it's you doing it.

Oh my, how would they ever guess? 😅😂😆

I've had the same with tirz, both days of anhedonia and some when I was really ... angry? I'm trying to see if taking L-tyrosine helps against the anhedonia.

So it's not just me! I had noticed this on Tirz a few months after starting. It finally subsided a bit, but somedays it doesn't take much to trigger me, but I'm now aware of it, so I catch myself before I react in most cases. The same thing happened to my spouse a few months into Tirz, we had actually had a full blown heated argument for the first time in our marriage, neither of us knew why we were arguing lol

For the first and second week of my using Reta I had what looking back I would consider mood swings. I would not say that Reta caused them directly but my diet. Even though I had researched and read up on Reta and its effects I was not ready for the real life hit to my appetite.

The first two weeks my caloric intake was fluctuating from 600 to 1800 k/cal per day. Being an obese male that was way under even a 2lb/week deficit. My body was not ready for that and did not react well. Once I had my diet squared away (with protein prioritized, low fat and the rest carbs) my mood and energy stabilized within about 2 days.

that's must my experience, your mileage may vary...

I’ve been on Tirz for about four months now, and stacking Reta for a month on that and I personally haven’t dealt with any mood swings at any point — not in the first few weeks and not later on either. My experience has been pretty steady overall. I know these medications can affect everyone differently, so I’ve just tried to stay aware of any changes, but for me it’s been smooth sailing in that department.

I’ve seen a lot of people mention that the emotional ups and downs tend to show up early and then settle as their body adjusts, so hopefully that’s the case for you too. It seems like the first month can be a bit unpredictable for some folks, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll stay that way.
