Protein Shakes and Bars?

What are your opinions on protein shake type drinks?

I've been rotating between Alani protein drink (30g, weird I know), Fairlife 42g elite and some mornings an Oikos protein drink (23g)... I also rotate between a David's bar or Barebell. For both of these things they are normally meal replacements because I'm too full to move after (thank you reta).

But do these calories and proteins affect me neutrally/negatively? Or are they completely fine?

I cut out any type of soda from my diet, but sometimes eating/drinking what I listed above feels like I'm eating a chocolate bar or drinking a milkshake and it's hard to know if the ~160 calories is real or what's going on
They are fine.

They are real food.

So tired of the eat real food comments.

You can get all of your protein from shakes if you want, and be just fine.

Big bowl of veggies and a shake? Sounds good.

Protein supplements do the job and I use them liberally to meet my numbers without a ton of extra calories or carbs. I have what equates to a GNC in my basement. It's actually concerning the level of stockpiling I have amassed.

My favorite Premade shakes:

Fairlife Nutrition, RAW, Quest 45g, Pure Protein Galactic Brownie. Basically it has to be 160c or less, and 30g or more.

My favorite protein bars:

Blue Unicorn (OH MY DOG!), David Gold and Bronze, Barebells Chocolate Dough, Salty Peanut and Brownie Batter, Pure Protein Galactic Brownie--this one I am really strict about because if it has more total carbs than protein, it's basically candy. It also has to have at least 1g of protein per 10 calories, though I prefer more like 2 per 10, which is basically David Gold bars. They are not my most favorite for texture or taste, but the macros trump it all. I cut them up and mix them into greek yogurt or cottage cheese mixed with protein powder.

My favorite protein powders:

Devotion Nutrition--I go through like 4lbs of Brownie Batter a month, also Angel Food, Sinful Cinnamon and Buttery Blend. I NEVER drink it though, I cook with it, it bakes and microwaves like a dream. I also use MealBoosters Parmesan and Cheesy Cheese (orange) like crazy too. The Parmesan is soooo good.

And protein "snacks":

Crisp Power pretzels, Quest Chips, Legendary Chips, Legendary Protein Pasta, on occasion a Legendary Tasty Pastry, PB Fit, Miracle Noodles/Pure Tradition Egg White noodles. I loved Catalina Crunch cereal til they just reformulated it and now it's crap. Ghost makes a really good Cinnamon Toast Crunch protein cereal too. The Lucky Charms is good but not as good as the CTC!

Optimum nutrition whey if you want something that's an easy mix.

I use them both personally, as long as the protein bars arent chewy they are nice, use them to replace any chocolate/sweets etc

I got a great deal on the 'zon for three 5lb tubs of Muscle Mass Whey Protein. I grabbed them enthusiastically because I love MM protein drinks from the store.

...I hate their protein powder. I failed to notice you need TWO huge scoops to get 32g protein. And its chalky AF. Also, for some reason, on some days, its hits my stomach like a rock. Ugh.

But, I will shoulder on and finish them off. I paid like $35/each for them. I'm going back to ANIMAL whey protein when these are done. Very smooth and delicious.

So, now I can add to my list of protein specific foods the Premiere Protein cereal. Had no idea the makers of my fave RTD protein shake also has cereal. Grabbed a couple of boxes today at the market as I was kinda jonesing for some cereal since I often have instant oatmeal at home for a quick breakfast, but haven't had cereal in ages. I'm so excited! It gets to sit on the shelf next to the Quest chips and Built bars.

There's a brand of cereal called Ghost that some of my lifting friends eat. Actually, they might have powers for drinks too.
