As someone who's been on TRT for 14 years (through PCPs, Endos and clinics) and has tried patches, gels, creams and injections, I would take charge of your health. If you want to do weekly injections (twice a week is better, but this would be an vast improvement), tell them (though I have to imagine that cost will be a bit if they charge you per visit). If you want to self-admin, tell them. If they won't "allow" you, I'd find another doctor. Just my opinion; but everyone's circumstances are different.
In my experience, most Endos know near nothing about TRT (they specialize in things like diabetes or maybe child growth issues). PCPs know less than Endos. I'm with a telehealth clinic now, but I've been at this a while and basically self manage everything anyway. I could go (dark) grey and do everything myself, but its nice to have the script in case there's ever a question with traveling, etc.
