Hey! I'm still on my weight loss journey with reta. I lost over 10kg now and I still wanna lose about another 15-20kg before August, since my goalweight is between 46-55kg. I'm a bit worried about loose skin, although I'm only 24. Will taking CU alone help me make sure my skin snaps back, or should I consider other peptides too? Right now I'm losing 1-1.5kg per week.

You are 24... You will be fine. Stay the course 💪
I really hope so! I read some stuff online that got me scared and worried. I'll however also put some work into my body, other than using reta and eating less.

slow and steady 👍
Do you think 1-1.5kg per week is slow enough? I'd prefer to keep going at this rate, cause I wanne be skinny for my birthday so badly, but if it's better for my skin, I will try and get some more calories in on average to slow it down a little.

Any thing more than that and you are probably losing muscle.

Eat a high protein diet and lift heavy things 3 to 4 days a week.

But what about her question?
The answer is that we don't actually know. That's why so many of us are on KLOW, because we don't actually know if it helps or not, or to what degree, but we don't dare stop because what if it would be so much worse than it is if we WEREN'T on it? And so eventually everyone gets a freezer full of KLOW and no real idea if it's working because we don't have a twin who's losing weight and NOT using it.

That makes sense.

As someone who lost 30~ish kg in his 20s in a span of half a year (a while back though, before peptides), i'd say take it slow. The last thing you want is having loose skin only because you rushed through it, which i did, and sure enough i was left with sagging skin. Sure, CU can definitely help, but i wouldn't risk it, better safe than sorry!

I’m eating lots of protein and I train strength, so I don’t think I’ll be losing a lot of muscle. I, however, can’t currently work out more than once a week right now, due to a pretty bad health condition I’m dealing with, so I gotta take it slow with exercising and pushing myself too much.

That makes sense! I actually hate pinning CU daily, although it doesn’t really sting for me, but I’m afraid to stop and eventually deal with loose skin later on. In general, I haven’t seen CU do much for me so far, but I’ve never really dealt with bad skin to begin with, so it’s more difficult to spot a difference I guess

Aw damn, that’s frustrating. Thanks for sharing your experience - I really hope my genetics will be merciful on top of that lol

I often see it repeated but I have never seen any evidence that slow weight loss is better for skin? I'm not sure what the theory is behind that.

For OP's question, I've been looking into this a lot and Amlactin/lactic acid, microneedling, retinol, and GHK-Cu all have evidence for skin thickening and tightening.

There is also the theory that fasting gets rid of loose skin through promoting faster autophagy (cell death). So when you're not getting enough protein, the body will cannibalize its own skin (and unfortunately also muscle) to survive. I haven't seen any scientific studies of this so take with a grain of salt, but the evidence is convincing enough to me that I'll be working a 3-day fast into every week to see if it works. If I can keep to it, ha. If you attempt this, don't forget that drinking electrolytes is required every day! And proceed with extreme caution if you have diabetes; your risk profile might be different than mine. Also, beware gallstones.

Also I plan to get a bit under my goal weight to 100lb to further shrink/cannibalize my skin (and then go back up to my goal weight of 120lb). Plus microinfusing with GHK-Cu (which means microneedling with a liquid substance) on my neck and problem areas. And I'll be taking Vitamin C tablets and a cup of bone stock every day for the collagen.

I would take KLOW too if I had money to burn, but it's quite expensive and I feel like there are other things that have more evidence lol.

I just love your perspective.

Taking your weight loss slow is one of your best bets to not have the loose skin. But you have to keep in mind, every body reacts differently. I have been taking GHK since November and have dropped 30 pounds during that time. I do have somewhat loose skin because of it, and I can't tell how much the GHK has helped (if any).

I do believe that if I was able to work out during that time and retain/put on muscle as I lost weight that I wouldn't have the loose skin. At your age your skin is still nice and elastic. Putting on a little muscle will help "fill you out" and prevent extra loose skin in the first place!

I think at 24 your going to have a better go of it than if you were much older (like me).

GHKcu may help with some modeling of the residual fat and tone of the skin.

I love the way it makes my skin feel, but at 61 nothing is going to get rid of loose skin outside of a surgeon's scalpel 😉

My whole team at work lately has been getting into radical, casual honesty, and it's such a treat. "Hey, I'm sorry, when you said XYZ it got me thinking about that other project and I tuned right out; I have no idea what else you just said, say it again?" "So Jenny had an idea about the trigger mechanism. I didn't love it at first, mostly cause it wasn't MY idea, but she does have a good point about..." "I need you for five minutes if you got time cause I'm running the accessibility checker and I don't know what I'm looking at. I promise not to be a bitch about it if you start to get In the weeds" (which is answered by "Oh, ok, then I promise to try to ONLY look at what you're asking to look at and not hold you for six more to tell you a thing you don't care about today but will next week")

We like it because it saves a lot of time and confusion and removes the pressure to be perfect every second of every day, but it's also making us all laugh HARD all the time, cause some of the younger ones have never heard anyone stop pretending they always know what they're doing in the workplace before.

I meant to reply last evening.... I wish we could take this approach in my workplace. Sounds awesome.
We're fortunate. The higher-ups threw our team together overnight five years ago, forgot to tell anybody INCLUDING the girl who went from a PM to the boss of the team (who found out in the car when I called her and said hey, looks like you're my boss today, also did I miss a meeting?) and then largely ignored us for the first year. So we got to build our own house and decide how we wanted it to be. It was an absolute freak occurrence, and we're lucky they picked a bunch of people who were into blameless culture and psychological safety.

That's fantastic. Super happy for you. What a great environment to cultivate safety and confidence. The team's performance level has gotta be high.

Maybe a little envious. 🌝

Think about looking great on your 70th birthday... Slow and steady wins this race. Make good habits now and stick to them and you'll be SO far ahead of those of us who just got the wake up call later in life... and be the best looking birthday celebrator for life, not just 'this birthday"! Enjoy!
