Is it just me, or does pinning somedays seem like a chore

Biliopancreatic Duodenal Swith/DS and it almost killed me when we found out regular multi vitamins and supplements weren't enough, I wasn't absorbing Thiamine, regardless of protein intake. Developed Wernicke's Encephalopathy and wound up in ICU for several days.

Thankfully, I was still coherent enough in the ER to whisper Duodenal Switch and I had a curious nurse, who ended up saving my life by getting me on a Thiamine push as they were treating me for a TIA.
Ow wow, sorry that happened to you. That nurse definitely earned her degree right there! I was curious when you said permanent malabsorption component, as that can happen with the DS. Nothing to the degree you went through, my mom had a DS and struggled with getting her Vitamins in. Had to get her to the Dr's office more a few times that 1st year, a lot of blood work and threatening to take her the ER, to get her on the mend and poppin vitamins all day. We talked about a revision several times, but it all worked out in the end. She's still down 175+lbs to this day and pretty functional.

Sorry to bring up bad memories, but I'm glad you shared that.

Don't worry...maybe someone with a DS will stumble across this post one day and keep this information in the back of their minds. I had thought I was doing all the right things, and typically it would have been enough, but as we all know, people vary. Glad your mom got sorted...it dropped me almost a hundred pounds and eventually Tirz got me the rest of the way...but yeah, a life long diligence is needed.

I often wonder with all these peptides coming out, if at some point, extreme bariatric surgeries will be looked back on in the future as quite barbaric.

Kinda like blood letting, seemed like a good idea at the time? I wouldn't doubt it, I know some Bariatric programs are down 30-40% in some areas of the country. I wouldn't be here, if not for the WLS and probably wouldn't have been able to keep my job without the Tirz/Reta.

This sounds far fetched, but I dropped 100lbs in 9 weeks, 200 at 6 months, 300 in under a year because of the surgery and became Anemic at about 6 months. Like you I did all the right things (so I thought) but I forgot to start a bariatric multivitamin, after 6 weeks. I had to take an iron supplement for over a year and it took 1.5 years to level out and feel good from losing over 300lbs in that time frame.

It may seem barbaric at some point in the future but I would do it again even though these meds were in the market at the time.

I ultimately have to agree. It worked and was needed at that time, despite some serious issues. If I hadn't done it, there is a good chance I wouldn't be here to even pontificate about the future!

And today was a light day. BPC, TB, and TESA/IPA blend. I don't know how the peeps pinning 2-3x that daily along with a stack of supplements stay motivated to do it.
It’s relative. I jab my glute with an inch and half 23 gauge twice a week. So little belly pricks - oh well.

I'm awfully glad you had it done then! Thank goodness you were able to utter DS.

I actually feel a little bored if it’s just a 1-pin day
I agree. I feel like I'm neglecting some part of my health.

Am I an addict??

Same. I only have 2 daily pins (3 peps) and a weekly, however I also have AM meds, PM meds, and…i think 8 vitamins/supplements in rotation. I’m more sick of pills than pins, but I’m kinda sick of pins too!

Today was one of them days. Somehow jabbed my finger with my syringe when I pulled it out of the vial. 🙄
Been there- done that!

Honestly, I'd rather pin than swallow one more supplement or vitamin...ugh.

I had bariatric surgery back in 2021 (wish Tirz was on the menu back then) which was extreme and left me with a permanent malabsorption component, so daily vitamin and supplements are a must if I want to stay out of the hospital.
I'm sorry you had to go down that route, but glad you lost weight and have the option to pin.

I'm not sure what size my Test syringe is, but it is 5050 whether I hit a nerve on the glute or not. If I don't hit a nerve, it's no worse than the 30g syringe.

Today, I didn't take my BPC-157 or Tesa/IPA shot until almost noon. I need to snag the link to that peptide crossword puzzle that shows what can be mixed. The sting from a blunt syringe doesn't bother me anymore. But one stick would be better than 3-5 depending on the day.

I'm hoping the BP and TB fixes my elbow pain over the next could weeks ago I can stop with those. I'll also be done with the tesa/Ipa in another couple weeks too. So, I'm looking forward to bring down to just my weekly dose of Cagri and Reta.

I take BPC and TB together. Most vendors sell eg a 10mg and 10mg vial combination. I used to take separately with different schedule but that is a good example of convenience together makes sense for me.

Peptides don’t bother me. But test is a literal pain in the ass…
IM injections are horrible, and test gave me lumps sometimes, and also the risk of hitting a blood vessel… God i hated them!
