Hey guys,

my mom just had hip surgery and is also struggling with significant arthritis in her knee. I really think she could benefit from a recovery protocol, but I’m unsure about how to bring it up.

For those who have recommended peps to parents or non "biohacking" friends:

How did you start the conversation? Did you focus on the science or more the results/benefits? Just in general.. how? 😅

I know my mom trusts what I say, she's also happy to take recommendations when it comes to diet changes and supplements. But with peps I feel it's slightly different. She definitely won't be doing her own research, so how do I handle the risk vs. reward part of the conversation, without scaring her too much about side effects or being irresponsible?

Thanks!

I hope your Mom recovers quickly and completely.

I have talked to my partner about them. Started with disclosing my plans. He asks questions. We talk about it. He might benefit from something to address inflammation which he is starting to correct through dietary changes.

I would think it might be a different approach with a parent. Though I am not sure what I'd say to my own parent.

Some of my friends and family (my hubs for one) will always be reluctant or downright unable psychologically to move away from traditional medical practices.

Other friends and family are much more interested and dare I say, a bit more risk taking and are really delving into peps

Doesn't matter how much my husband sees the benefit I am getting, he is not on board with injecting himself at all. Then again, he doesn't see regular doctors and is healthy as a horse...but doesn't think he needs any preventatives, even at 65.

I'd just not beat around the bush. Just straight up talk to her about BPC and TB or whatever you are thinking and perhaps back it up with some science and anecdotal evidence, but ultimately, if she is closed off to the idea, it's going nowhere, but you tried.

I have used FDA announcements as a cover. "Hey, I was reading an FDA announcement and it mentioned [peptide]. I read up on it and thought it was interesting, what do you think?" There's been a fair bit of "newsworthy" activity recently, which has been discussed on this forum.

That said, me bringing up something I've read recently in conversation is not abnormal. If it's not something you do, it might tip them off. But you're trying to help and it comes from a place of care, so I'd say most folks would recognize that - especially your mom.

All my friends and close relatives are on peptides. It usually starts with something like this, "You look good. How the hell did you lose so much weight?" Even my dentist asks about peptides now.

I started GLPs on Rx Ozemp. Worked fairly well, but moderately queezy and got really tired of having to chase it to find it and then pay outrageous co-pays. Found gray, started and my RN wife said I was crazy. After I had lost about 50 lbs and most of the arthritis in my joints and back resolved, she suddenly informed me she would like to start Trz "after Easter". That was last Easter and today she is down about 60 lbs.

It might be easier to start from a GLP1 perspective, most people know that ozempic works, they may not know how, but they're at least familiar with the concept of a peptide. They're also based on mechanisms already happening in our bodies, with the aim to just increase their activity, might make it sound less scary. It might help to refer to those med spas over in the US aswell to make it more of an established thing. I'm sorta typing this out trying to draft my own talking points aswell because I have an order coming up that I'm gonna need to store in a shared freezer and they might get curious about the strange white powder lol

Most of them think it’s oils lol , my wife caught me using it first vial , she cranked and broke my bac too , but slowly my results came in showing and I shared videos , she understood and then ozempic and monjaro and clinic advertisements help her understand

Now she pins with me lol

My mom is super excited about Wolverine stack since she has arthritis on her knee. I guess talking about a potential benefit for them can be a good start.

I keep it to myself because I am using it to counteract medication weight gain I don't want them to be aware of.

ive started testing the waters with people by telling them a joined some forums, like this one, and tell them stories about other people.

"this one guy said he bought a 20 year supply of tirz, pretty crazy right?!?"

"this one person said they are taking X amount of semi!! dont you get super sick from only Y amount? imagine you took that dose"

"some people dont even get their stuff tested! they just trust someone named cherry from china, i could never!"

and see how they react to the stories to see if its even worth starting to explain anything to them lol

Hahaha I like that! Seems like a good approach

For readers in the family I would recommend Dr. Seeds books. Especially the peptide protocols, there’s something about “written by an MD” that makes it seem legitimate.

I also send national institute of health articles about the research and trials that are ongoing.

When you family gets interested you can slow feed them how to access the grey.

Bro, I'm not telling you to do what I did, I'm just telling you what I did.

I did all the reading, watching, and listening. I figured out I wanted to do this. I told my mum, "I'm doing this", which prompted her concern trolling, to which I rebutted every point (because I had been consuming content for months) so confidently, without missing a beat, that she was practically begging me to help her out.

What you said is bang on the money; they won't do their own research, but they trust you. Treat her like a child (only in this regard), and you'll be golden.

For the very few people I wanted to share information with, I just said "do some research into peptides and let me know what you think." One has never said a word about it since, another said "I'm already taking some." lol

I understand where you're coming from. She may not want to do research but would she spend some time on forums or even on Reddit? There's so much positive interaction here and she could read people's stories or look at before/after pictures to get an idea of how it's helping other people. I know that's helped me a lot to feel like I'm participating in a community of people getting healthier with peptides
