Hey guys,

So ive hit a wall with retatrutide. Ive been taking it for about 7 weeks now and ive lost 21lbs. Calorie deficit and eating lots of protein. I know its a good amount of weight to lose in such little time but for the last 2 weeks weight has stayed the same even gaining a couple of pounds. Im confused by this as my eating pattern is exactly the same as when I lost the 21lbs to begin with. I dont plan on upping my dose as im already on a pretty high dosage for how early on in the process I am. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why ive hit this wall and what else I can do to help with more weightloss (I still have ALOT to lose)

Thankyou

Clamp down on tracking and measuring your food and increase movement. Even if just jittery type stuff like bouncing legs and arm lifts etc to start. Walk more if possible. The medicine is great but it makes it very possible to drop the weight, it isn’t responsible for the weight loss.

450>210 here.

Don't overthink this. Lean on the appetite suppression you feel right now and let the medicine do the heavy lifting for you.

If you have a lot to lose like I did then my advice is to set an aggressive calorie deficit goal with a daily protein minimum goal so you don't have to guess if you are truly in a deficit, hit that goal most days, weigh yourself less frequently so you don't needlessly stress yourself out, and move more. It doesn't have to be crazy, just do more physical activity than you used to do - cleaning, walks, yoga, weight lifting, it doesn't matter right now - just pick anything. Doing anything was an improvement for me.

You’re 7 weeks in and still averaging -3lb a week after a 2 week lull… 4lb/week average for the first 5 weeks.

You give no specifics about your stats, your dosing, sides, goals, intake or exercise.

Advice, you need to adjust your mindset to more closely align with reality. Learning can help with that. If you want specific advice, specific information is helpful.

At 7 weeks after starting and with no change in calorie intake, this is just the scales lying to you, or more likely just shifts in body fluid balance making it look like you are no longer losing weight. When you start a lower calorie input your body uses up a lot of liver stored glycogen, which has a lot of water attached to it so you can lose up to 5 kilos or so of fluid over the first week or 2, at some point afterwards your body readjusts the balance a bit, which is probably what is happening now. Weight loss on GLP's does not usually truly plateau until about a year after starting.

Given you have lost 21 pounds in 7 weeks, the drug is working, but you may have to wait a week or 2 for the scales to show this, it also means that some of the 21 lbs lost was fluid not fat, but this is always the case in losing weight, the real rate of weight loss is likely to be lower than 3lbs a week. You can try to see if waist circumference is showing changes if the scales are not giving you the feedback you want or you just have to trust in the process, if you are eating less calories than needed you will lose weight, it is way too early for significant drops in metabolic rate from weight loss.
