Hi from a 50yo newbie. I'm currently taking 1mg reta in hopes to shed some "2025 was HARD" pounds. Between the LA fires (which affected my family), both my daughters going away to college, and MIL passing away, I just kind of lost my motivation to work out. But I decided on January 5th (had to get kid #2 back to school before I could use the Peloton again, as it's in her old room now) it was ON and am working out 5x a week again (3 days strength, 2 cardio).

I started 1mg reta (split as .5mg Tues/Friday) last week and am on week #2 now. I decided to do the full 1mg all at once, and will try an every 5 day schedule instead, as I had zero side effects or "help" to keep me from thinking about food 24/7. I realize it takes a while to build up in my system, so hopefully 1mg/5 days is OK. I'm feeling something this time - I still get hungry, but I don't ruminate all day about what my next meal will be. I "think" I might be staying full longer, but it's hard to tell.

As for 50yo stuff in general, I'm peri - I went 3 months without a period and then when the girls came home for Christmas, BOOM. Damn them! I use estroven (from Costco), which seems to keep the hot flashes away. I have an appt to talk to a doc in March about HRT - TBD. I don't really "feel" like I need them yet, but don't want to wait til I'm miserable either.

Aloha, Excited to join the discussion here, turning 59 soon. I am officially one of you now and just did my second dose after a pretty successful first week. Very mild side effects so far but I am only doing 2.5mg this month. I had lost about 25 lbs the old fashioned way over the last year but it was painfully slow and I had been stalled for months.

There is a weightloss clinic in town that charges $400 a month for semaglutide but I just couldn't justify the cost and I wanted to try tirz. I went the compounding route which was less but still not ideal, lots of hoops to jump through and questionable telehealth businesses. I finally landed here and just loaded my freezer while I continue to learn more before starting to compound my own. I also want to finish out the compounded vial I already have. Slow and steady is my plan.

I split my time between Hawaii and California, so let me know if you ever need tips!

I started December 15th on sema. I’m making decent progress. I’m up to .5 on dose but thinking about switching to tirz. I ordered a 30mg kit a while back. Going back and forth on changing and maybe doing a small sema kicker on my 3rd or 4th day each week if I need it. I have been having more cravings on day 6 and 7 each week.

I’m having trouble getting motivated to exercise. This happens to me every winter. I know that’s what it is. If I get my butt up and go to the gym I always feel better but depression is a killer to motivation. I’m on this mission alone. Nobody around me with time is interested in going with me so I’m gonna have to find that motivation alone. I did get a recumbent bike and some free weights and I’m trying to do that every day.

I've got my nutrition under control I think. Trying to hit the protein goal everyday but sometimes I miss. Making sure to get fiber every day and so far that has kept me and the toliet in good standing. I try to drink enough everyday but some days I feel like I'm gonna float off. I'm not counting calories because all the fatty foods I usually love is kinda gross to me right now. Plus after doing the calculation to see how many calories I would need to eat to maintain my weight I know I'm probably at half that amount. If you haven't done that yet, look it up.

I’m worried about the sagging skin! I’ve had so many surgeries in the last decade (mostly ortho stuff - back, hands, arm). I just got out of debt from having my gallbladder out but I consider that win with the GLP-1s. I know I’m not going to be a young hottie but I hate the idea of having to tuck and compress loose skin for the rest of my life or get it cut off.

Just looking for feedback from other mature ladies. Suggestions? Experiences you’re having?

I have been fairly active throughout my life. Step classes, running, ran 1/2 marathon, etc, etc. but during COVID is where I really did nothing and just SAT and my weight crept up to the highest it's ever been...200 pounds. I knew I was barely moving from my Fitbit watch and that was a big part of the problem, so I bought a treadmill. And that really got me started to get serious about getting that excess weight off. I joined an online Semaglutide compounding service about that same time so the Sema along with walking 2-3 miles a day really kicked in for me.

But eventually the Sema stalled. I stayed with it for about 6 months just to see if I could break through. But online research indicated about 30lbs was all I was going to get from it. (18% of my starting weight). So then on the Tirz which worked fine, but by then I was researching quite a bit about peptides and discovered Retatrutide. Aside from its weight loss benefits, it's also beneficial for other health concerns like inflammation, glucose regulation, blood pressure, regulating brain function (preventing dymensia) etc. So I made that switch at the end of last year. It's taken a full month to get a steady stream of it into my system and I am just now really seeing noticeable improvements from it. They stress that it will take almost 4-6 months to titrate up to the optimal dosage of 6-8MG where you really hit the sweet spot of its benefits...so I am trusting what I've read and just being patient. I've lost 5lbs from when I started the last week of Dec., so I really can't complain!

From my ongoing peptide research, I've also added BPC-175, MOTS-C, GHK-Cu, Epithalon, and Cargrilintide to my stack. At first learning about all those peptides was a bit overwhelming, but slowly and surely, I got a firm grasp on the information, and it has been extremely enlightening and encouraging that peptides are the way to go for overall well-being. I am very happy with the results I'm getting from them all.

I want to be living actively and independently until I take my last breath...hopefully no sooner than another 30-years down the road. I really think peptides are the key to that.
 
Well, for as great as my first week went, the last 24 hours have been rough. It's only 2 days since my last dose and I have been super nauseas while also being hungry. Not getting the same affects as last week at all. I know I am on starting with a low amount (2.5 tirz) but I expected it to be similar to last week. Any suggestions for the nausea?

Everybody has different remedies they like. I think I'm lucky because when it happens I can just drink a lot of cold water and it passes. I see a lot of ppl say ginger tea. I hope it passes quickly for you.

Read up on this ( mitochondria protocol ) since you've already ordered 2 of the 3 peptides involved. Many of us have already done it and I just started mine. The dosing schedule is on the first 2 pages and all the science that developed the protocol is included in the next 15 pages. I will fully admit that I didn't read all of if but I read enough to convince me that trying it has a good chance of helping me. Its a longish read so here is a Video of dude discussing the mitochondria protocol .

Another peptide suggestion for my fellow crones to research .. epitalon. I bought some of this and intend to take a round of it after I finish the mitochondria protocol.

I didn’t realize at the time I was in full menopause. Dark thoughts and all that fun.

In 2021 I ended up in the ER with high BP and began taking Lisinopril and a statin. In 2023 I had a semi breakdown one morning. Couldn’t remember my yoga pw at the studio that I had used for a decade. Was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and began levothyroxine. Had to quit teaching yoga at that time.

So really fun times. A guy who worked with my husband lost a lot of weight and told him about taking tirzepatide. I read everything I could and joined all the forums/reddits. We started in July 2024. I’ve lost over 90lbs which it seems crazy I had that much to lose tbh.

Been fully post menopausal since 2023. We just got our GHK-cu, Epithalon, and KPV today. I currently take 3.5mg tirz and just upped my Reta to 6mg. I could be at maintenance but kinda want to lose about 5 more lbs.

I am so thankful for these glps. My husband and I agree they saved our lives. I no longer take the lisinopril or the statin. My BP is great. I will probably have to be on my thyroid meds for life but I am ok with that. Taking HRT now and will never quit my glps.
I noticed something recently- I had to get labs for an upcoming endo visit and well.. I had been forgetting my thyroid med a LOT… and my levels are high NORMAL for the first time since diagnosis when I’ve been forgetting my meds. Looks like I either can stop it or take less- can’t wait to talk to my endo!

Let me know how it works as a spray- I tried it as an injection and felt nothing. I was so disappointed!

I always forget KLOW helps with gut health. Ihad IBS-D until I started GLPs, but recently was so depressed I skipped all my peptides for a few weeks (lost the last of my super senior pets traumatically and it affected me more than I realized) and have had a recurrence 2 days running- so I’m running back to my peptides (actually restarted last week). KLOW improved my skin a little, but I’ve used it for the back pain relief and hoping for skin effects. Gotta remember the total benefits!

I pushed protein heavily and not only didn’t lose hair, it grew better than it has in the past 30 years. It was sort of easy, because my appetite suppression was so extreme I was making shakes w/coffee and unflavored protein powder 3x/day, so easily got the extra protein I needed. Maybe try adding a protein shake or 2 to increase your protein to help your hair and nails? Each scoop of protein is 25-30 grams of protein and I drank 2 or 3 scoops, 2 or 3x daily. I live alone, so I had no reason to make myself cook.

I think the owner has limited newbies from accessing sources until they post a little, but I’m not sure.

I’m lucky to have leftover nausea meds from my previous doc who trusted me to use drugs responsibly and would prescribe my prns in 30 and 60 counts, but before him I used antacid chews and/or ginger or peppermint tea. Many times I can take a few tums and it stops my nausea, so I always try that first before using a script med. Ihave a strange issue where I will get nauseated out of the blue and if I don’t take a zofran I am going to get sick, but fortunately that has decreased with time so I have zofran around, but save it for the “hot spit” episodes.

Also I apologize for the multiple posts- I try to respond once and it never works when I try to splice all my responses in one post… if anyone can teach me how, I’d be grateful. I don’t usually have trouble with tech, but I screw that up constantly…

Me! Me! I'm in the club, too!

51 and 18 months into GLP-1 usage. SW was 279, I'm 5'8" for reference. I'm now sitting at 158, with probably 10 pounds of extra skin....so I'm as close to goal as I'm probably going to get. I started on just tirz, then supplemented some maz, then switched to supplementing survo. I'm now just on tirz, at 10mg every 4 days (17-ish mg per week). I'm now focusing on building muscle and stamina. I will eventually have a tummy tuck, arm lift and leg lift. Not sure about "the girls" yet. They are almost non-existent 😫🤣

My best advice is to stay the course, get your protein and water in, expect hair loss and exhaustion....ride the wave...it's amazing on the other side!! ❤️❤️
