I had recently read a medical article where there were some studies conducted at the Mayo Clinic and John's Hopkins showing that women who were dealing with stubborn weight gain and belly fat issues due to peri and menopause seen better results using GLP-1's in conjunction with HRT therapy.

For those women here who are on HRT and using GLP-1's, do you feel you will maintain this regiment of use for the foreseeable future or are you afraid that once you stop using the GLP-1, your menopausal weight gain will become an issue once again even with continued use of HRT?

I'm interested in this as well. I actually have an appointment next week to discuss HRT. I am so over all this perimenopause crap.

Personally I see tirz as likely to be a lifelong medication. I would take it for the anti inflammatory and mental health benefits alone, to be honest.

I can’t speak for everyone, but personally, HRT has been life changing for me. It’s not just about weight, t’s sleep, mood, energy, mental clarity… everything feels more like me again. As long as it continues to be medically appropriate, I plan to stay on it.

I feel really similarly about GLP-1s. The benefits go way beyond just weight loss appetite regulation, reduced food noise, better metabolic health, it’s been a huge shift. For me, it’s not about a short term fix, it’s about long term health.

That said, I also think it’s important to be realistic: these tools work best when paired with lifestyle, strength training, adequate protein, sleep, stress management, all of it. They’re not magic on their own, but they make doing the right things so much more effective .

As far as stopping GLP-1s, I think for many people weight regain can happen if nothing else changes, especially with the hormonal shifts of peri/menopause. So I personally view it less as a “temporary diet drug” and more like ongoing metabolic support, similar to how we think about HRT.

I'm starting progesterone in a few weeks, so I will report back.

I'm starting HRT as soon as I get around to talking to my doc about it, and I expect that'll be for life, because I won't get LESS perimenoapausal except to get menopausal. I doubt I'll ever be off the GLP-1's because I am quite enjoying being thin-ish.

Peri here and my physicians told me the same, that the two work best together.

They’re lifetime meds for me. Life changing.

Been on Tirz for a year and just switched to Reta. I am at goal weight and do not need to lose any more weight.

I'd like to hear from women who have been on HRT for a long time. I went through four years of peri-meno hell from 2018 to 2021, tried too many things to list here. Finally got on pellets in 2021. I've gotten 18 pellets so far, roughly every 13 weeks.

Spoiler alert. You can't be on the pellet forever. What now? My dr. wanted to lessen my amount of test this past pellet. She lessened my thyroid med as well and now I am back to sluggish and no energy. We should not have done both at once.

I'm interested in some of the other things discussed in this forum but if I even type some of the letters or the "p" word I can't post and get flagged as spam. This forum kind of sucks.

I've been taking HRT for over 2 years now, and can say for me, for sure, nothing was budging in my weight no matter what I was trying; all my usual tricks weren't doing anything - lifting 2x week, 3-4 mile walks 2-3 days/week, recording calories and macros. I was soooo frustrated, because the HRT legit removed the PM issues like sleeplessness, hot flashes, random cravings. But, I still couldn't make my weight change. I assumed since the HRT got all of that sorted, might as well give GLP-1 a try and tirz has worked just as advertised.

I personally feel that any woman who is eligible for HRT will find a very positive benefit of both treatments to get the scale moving with little complaint or resistence from her body.

I started HRT with Winona, and saw little results besides eliminating hot flashes.

Then I started Tirze and it changed everything! Eventually my GP prescribed real HRT

and that has been great, though I can't pinpoint all the ways, it's more subtle but I have lost most of the meno belly since adding Reta as well.

It is hard to qunatify each ones contribution, but they do work very well together.

Yes I do believe that continuation of both HRT and GLPs will be my future.
