I have several dozen peptides I frozen in multiple plastic containers and now it is difficult to pull an individual vial out of my container. Is it okay to thaw the whole storage unit and then remove the vial and refreeze? Any suggestions on future storage and vial pull.

They say freeze and thaw should be avoided, hence the common caution in using a freezer with a thaw cycle. But I have never seen tests that prove this. How did they freeze such that they are stuck in there? Sounds very odd. My only hassle is my wife likes to cram shit like Costco shit on my boxes.

I have dozens of peps too in the freezer. I would usually take one vial out to thaw, then reconstitute and pin. Repeat when the time comes.

I guess it's similar to food. When you freeze, thaw then refreeze, then thaw, repeat, it becomes freezer burned and goes bad. 🤣

I think plastic container the peptide vials are in shrunk more than the glass vials. That’s my assumption. No moisture that I can see.

From Amazon. The plastic seems to be shrinking onto the glass vials making pulling them out difficult.

It isn't bro science, its actual peptide lab science. Google stuff like this article, key words are Transition glass temperature, warning even the abstracts are kind of boring;

DSC reveals the excipient impact on aggregation propensity of pharmaceutical peptides during freezing

Abstract Pharmaceutical peptides are susceptible to aggregation in solution, making stabilization by addition of suitable excipients essential. To investigate this

Get one of these, I have two. Cheap and have foam inserts for 63 3ml vials. Amazon $10.00

I'll use my rewards credit card for these big purchases.

Thanks. I never looked into because didn’t have the need with my garage freezer (full of Costco shit for 3 kids as well….). I did wonder about because after all those Jano tests showing how much longer peptides last at room temperature in powder form than we all thought.

For dry lyophilized material:

There is little or no free water present, so the classic freeze-thaw stress mechanisms are dramatically reduced. That said, not all peptides are equally stable. Some highly delicate or modified peptides can still slowly degrade over time even while lyophilized. But for most research peptides commonly discussed online, freezer storage of the dry powder is considered standard practice.

You put these inside of a freezer bag or just tossing the case in the freezer?

I don't understand why just using the containers they come in is an issue over some of these cases I see. Like that plastic one just seems like a bigger version of how they already come.... (I do get the thermal ones for people who have electricity issues.)

I put my plastic containers with peptides inside a freezer bag and get as much air out as possible. I think I am switching to a soft container that @BNLFL suggested.

I have a bunch of the smaller versions of these. It's easier for me to play tetras in my freezer when I can move them around versus a few large ones. Also, I kinda love when I get a new one and get to pop out the little foam cutouts.

Plastic is shrinking more than the glass vials and trapping my vials inside causing me a difficult time to get them out. Afraid I will break them. I broke one vial when I first started as the vial was super thin wall gauge.

I understood that part... But why transfer them out of the plastic cases they come in to put them in another plastic case? I haven't had any of those issues with the original packaging.

What about using a hot rag underneath wrapping around the one you want to take out so it can warm it up a bit? Should be able to loosen it up quickly
