I can do discord, but I joined telegram with my real name, which got me greeted by my mother (who I promptly blocked, thinking she was a scammer because wtf is my mother doing on Telegram? Don't answer that, I'm happier not knowing) and my ex brother in law, who I WAS happy to see, but now I can't post anywhere til I figure out how to change it.

I may be showing my age, but I find telegram like a group text with a bunch of strangers who want to respond to every text. And Discord seems like a reincarnation of IRC. Both are a lot.

I was graduating HS when IRC got going honestly. Was junior in college before you could even register for classes online and that was when we were all worked up over Y2K! That said, I find pros and cons to discord and telegram. Discord is like watching headline news and telegram is like text messages for me.

Feeling all ya'll! My google history will reveal a 'Telegram for Beginners' search! I do actually prefer TG to Discord, idk, just seemed more intuitive maybe? I've also had an easier time finding...channels? I agree, @Calm Logic, love the search w/ TG and @randompersonrandom, I did the same thing and changed it so, I'm sure as soon as you get a "round tuit" you'll have it done! To be honest, this new little hobby in saving money is costing me a lot of time!
