The FDA has now shut down two 503b pharmacies' ability to compound tirzepatide this month alone( ProRx and BPI Labs). The 503a are most likely next. I had this feeling back in the Fall last year, which is what led me to this awesome forum. Get ready for a lot of new sign-ups from the Reddit folks as they are heading this way. The panic is swirling heavily today. The times they are a-changing.

Looks like you made the right decision. It will probably be another year until they shut down those 503a pharmacies.

I went grey back in early 2025, because back then they were saying they would shut down compounding imminently too. Lots of panic around that time. Looks like the FDA is finally getting somewhere 14 months later.

There’s tons of panicking in the subs. But, then again, people get panicky with grey too (see CNY, strait of hormuz closure, etc etc)

I don’t know if 503a is going to fall tbh. But I’m sure EL would love that especially with the pending litigation regarding reta being classified as a biologic vs a drug

Hammer is dropping, it all has to do with most favored nation pricing!

Glad I got one more of Hallandale this morning. Didn’t need it yet but wanted it on hand. Just punctured my last Olympia 75mg vial 😭😭😭 last week

I am definitely panicking. I was doing $499/3 months worth and even that was a little bit of a stretch. The $449 for name brand at my dose is not manageable. Yikes.
I was paying $499/3mo which I was able to stretch to almost 5 months. Then they got greedy and said they were starting everyone over at 2.2mg if you used your meds past the BUD(ie, didn't order every 3 months). So I found this forum, placed an order with one of the vendors on the vendor page, and paid less than that for meds that will last me 2+ years. Yes, I had to learn some things that were new to me and take a chance but I am super happy with the result

My story is similar. I started on compounded after my insurance stopped paying for it. After making my second $600+ payment for 3 months each time, and a math error by the compounding pharmacy (scary, right?) I started researching. I was going to wait till I finished the compounded I had on hand, but I decided not to and I got enough to last for years for less than I was paying for 3 months. Plus I won’t have my doctor asking why I thought my B12 was so high. No more additives. I am happy as a clam.

Technically it doesn't look like the FDA closed down BPI - they basically complied in advance, decided it was a good time to bow out of GLPs before their hand for forced. My guess: they'll be back, no different than Hallendale bowing out a year or so ago and coming back. Compounding is a multi million (perhaps billion) dollar biz, they aren't likely to leave that $$ on the table if they can find a way back to it.

Reading some of the panic on Reddit, I found many people have prescriptions for multiple telehealth providers and are stocking up on years worth of compounded trizepatide.

Especially those who only want "pure" tirzepatide. And I'm just sitting there thinking, but.... gray?

People have been hoarding for a while but I know that this has ramped up the tendencies for sure

Wow. The $600+ bucks for 3 or even 6 month telehealth folks could, for that same amount, get several YEARS worth of tirz AND get it tested for purity and endotoxins. I get it that there is a bit more to the process (i.e. re-constituting) but holy moly....that's a lot of cash paid to telehealths for the convenience of not having to inject BAC water into a vial X_X

I saw someone spitting contempt for them over there (there's a weird subset of tirzepatidecompound redditor who just love to shame the hoarders, which, girl bye), and they said something about "sitting on 20k of credit card debt to have five years worth." And holy shit, THAT hurt to think about. I'm sitting on ten years worth, for which I think I paid around $2300 over the course of like five months, and that was money I could afford to spend. The people spending 20k that they CAN'T because they're so scared is painful.

I got lucky because I ordered what should be 2 years worth based on current dosing and they sent me a double order. So I am sitting with 4 years worth for under $400. Which is insane. That is just tirz. I'm 7 pounds from my goal so if I am able to titrate down it will last me even longer. Although I am sharing with my daughter in law. Who knows if I will want to stay on tirz. I may decide to try reta. Keeping my options open, lol.

I really, really wish it were that simple! The idea of learning to pay in bitcoin to be able to get this stuff delivered is so overwhelming. Or having packages seized. . . I'll get there because I NEED tirz but this is really daunting.

I did my first gray order this week. The only difficult part was the wallet I was sending to got flagged. I ordered from a vendor with a us warehouse so it's already through customs, read the guides here etc and you should be able to get it figured out with little effort don't let crypto scare you!
