Crazy flushing almost had me call 911.

Today I was taking my shots as normal before I headed out to work. I pinned 50mg of NAD+ in my hip and when I pulled it out, a bit of blood squirted out. I Though to myself "huh, I've never nicked a vein in my hip before" and didn't think much more about it. Then about 15 seconds later it felt like I got hit by brick wall. My vision went bright white and pressure built up in my head like it was going to explode. After that my arms and chest started tingling and then turned to fire. Chest tightened to the point of having trouble breathing. I got super dizzy and had to catch myself as I started to topple over. I though I was either having a massive heart attack or going into anaphylactic shock. I left my phone in the living room, so I managed to opened my drawer with my emergency epi-pen and got my hands on it. My thought was that if I take it, it'll buy me enough time to get to my phone and call for an ambulance. I popped the cap off and was just about to take it when I felt the pressure in my head lessen and my breathing become easier. Rode it out for another 15 or so seconds until it all fully subsided. The whole ordeal maybe took 90 seconds. That was the craziest reaction I've ever had to any peptide/medication/drug. I guess I accidentally IV'd my pin. It really shook me up and I sat there involuntarily shaking for a solid 5min afterward. I've had mild and even what I though was severe flushing before from NAD+ and a couple other peptides, but nothing even in the realm of whatever that was. I'm fine now and was able to head out to work just a few minutes late. But damn that scared me when I was in it! Anyone else have any crazy reactions that made you think twice about your current peptide research?

Glad to know that you're ok. That's quite a scare what you went thru. In my opinion always titrate up slowly. 50 mg of nad+ is just too much, as far as my research goes all these pepstides are short chain amino acids, they just nudge our system to do things naturally with gradual signals. So sticking to the lower dosages will help?

This isn’t my first dose. I have actually titrated down to 50mg twice a week for NAD+. There for a while I taking 500mg a week. The problem wasn’t dose size, it was the fact I accidentally injected it intravenously instead of subcutaneously as intended.

Can you please give some more details? Where did you pin? Was it using a syringe or a pen? How long was the needle? Thank you.

It was in my right hip with a 31g 5/16” insulin syringe.

Pro tip: always pull the plunger of your syringe before injecting to see if you draw blood.
Yeah, I used to and know I should. But complacency set in after pinning 7+ times a day for the better part of a year.

Interesting how you hit a vein with a 31g insulin syringe, it's not that deep to hit a vein. I'm glad to hear you're okay, would be a good idea to pull back next time when you pin in that area as you know that you have veins close in the subq region?

@Tbagger A couple of times, when injecting NAD+ subQ, I have either hit a vein, a very well perfused muscle region or a big enough capillary to get a similar reaction. Scared the utter crap out of me the first time but it goes away fairly quickly within a couple of minutes. Both times this happened was when I was hurrying and didn't "pinch a good inch" before pinning. Ears start ringing, chest gets tight, heart starts racing and limbs feel heavy. Almost like a chemically induced stress test, and passes just about as quickly. Glad you are ok!

Makes me feel a little better knowing I’m not the only one. Lol
