No, from Poland. They arrived and were legit. So much so I then organised a group buy and have 40 pens now ordered for other UK peeps which I'll send out once they arrive.

what? Skip? How can you tell??

When it comes to convenience, and costs. Between the cartridges and the pens is just more expensive than buying a 31 gauge. Or is the convenience so worth it?

Newbie here leaning. Would rather buy once and cry once.

Can I ask where you bought from? I love the gensupen and would buy more if I could find them..

I explained why they have an expiration date in a previous post.
And I didn’t see that. So.

Edit read your post.

And my statement stands. These are new in box pens that were manufactured in 2017. That reviewer was still an idiot for complaining about an “expired pen.”

Well I just recently tried using a syringe instead of my normal injection pen because I ran out of cartridges and didn't notice until my injection day. I had to either use the syringes I originally purchased or hold off on taking my sema as scheduled. So a syringe it was. I can say with confidence that the syringe hurt more. I think that the needle is dulled by sticking it into the vial.

Also, yes, the injection pen is more convenient.

Finally ... what do you mean about buying once? Are you not using a new syringe for each injection?

New syringe/ alcohol wipes and follow all safety protocols/requirements each time!

Im curious how often a new pen is needed at 30-100 USD! (Someone mentioned the bird pens are lower quality)

3-5 years depending on how often you use it. The mechanics wear out. Those "2017" expirations are from Eli Lilly where they're guaranteed (I'm guessing) to work without fault until that date. Odds are, they'll work just fine since they're "brand new".

Birds aren't lower quality in the sense it'll break sooner, it's just made from plastic and doesn't feel or look as nice. It's a quality pen, just not my favorite.

the V1 an V2 pens are available from places for a very reasonable price. The difference is you push down the button to inject as slow or fast as you want. I actually prefer this. I like having control and allowing the liquid time to sink in. and they come in nice colors, so you can easily keep track of what you are pinning.

I’ve not needed to replace any of my autopens. I stopped using my Allstar because it popped apart mid- pin. That is the only pen I stopped using due to malfunction. I use 8 pens daily and have since about this time last year. The pens allegedly last around 3 years, but I’m not there yet so I can’t say. Cartridges are replaced once empty (lasting around a month, depending on number of doses). Needles are like syringes, single use. And a good number of my pens were less than $30. All were less than $100. Plus the pins are less painful.

I am not so sure that the pens are only going to last 3 years but since I have only been using them since July I can't really say that anyone is wrong about it. So let's assume that 3 years is accurate.

You are right. They do cost more. I estimate that a pen costs about $30-50 per year depending on what pen you buy and syringes probably cost about $3-10 depending on the quality/brand. But in my opinion the fact that they hurt less and are easier to deal with makes that small extra cost worth it.

testing them with water and a slin pin stuck in the cartridge instead if the usual pen needle, turn the dial to your dose and push, if pushed too hard they skip and you get a lower dose than expected

Nice, would be interested if your doing a group buy in the future

Of course they would skip if you did that. If the stuff inside the cartridge couldn't get out then the plastic would have to give way under pressure. Don't do that ... its a great way to ruin your own pens.

you could pin into a luer lock without needle to check..no added pressure. I dont want to waste my luer locks or cartridges though!

There is also less waste, needle plus syringe each pin goes into the sharps container instead of just a needle the size of a thimble from a pen. Not that I really care that much but it’s less trips to the sharps disposal so go less often. Could use luer lock needles but that seems less sanitary to reuse the barrel (do people do this, I’m not sure?) and also more expensive.

Then there is the convenience. Just pop a new needle on, select dose and go, as opposed to pulling out the vial, pulling the medication, then injecting it. Doesn’t seem like that much of a difference but it is noticeable. Especially if doing multiple pins per day.

I have 3 birds on the way and can’t find the Gansulin for less than $110, but would be interested in a group buy if anyone ever does one for the US.

Check out this demonstration of the Gansulin pen. This pen is only available in a couple countries in Europe, so the gansulin is a much more popular choice and much easierto get. Same pen.
That Gansulin is beautiful; I need one that ships to USA, but cannot one.
