Sharing in case this combination hits odd for folks…

After two weeks of Selank we wanted to bring in Semax. Selank has had a profound effect and RS was hoping to see the additive benefit of Semax. RS had recently been under stress and Selank had moved the anxiety into background noise. After starting Semax RS was waking around 4am-6am with racing heart, mild panic attack, and anxiety. Selank calmed it during the day but RS found it happening at the same time every night. After 5 nights we started looking at Semax as a contributor.

We loaded all of the Withings and Oura sleep data into a couple AIs and played “what if?” All queries came back with some version of the following:

“Between 2-4 AM, cortisol naturally begins rising in preparation for waking—a normal process called the cortisol awakening response. However, in individuals with anxiety and chronic stress, this rise is exaggerated and can trigger panic.

By adding dopaminergic stimulation from Semax during this vulnerable window, you’re essentially creating a “two-hit” effect: elevated baseline cortisol + dopamine-driven alertness + sleep-stage transition vulnerability = panic. It’s not that Semax causes the cortisol spike, but it amplifies your brain’s sensitivity to it at the worst possible neurobiological moment.”

We will be halting Semax for two weeks to see if there is improvement. If things do improve we will restart Semax at a lower dose and only in the morning..

Interesting. I'm waiting on both semax and selank to arrive. Curious what your dosages are and what method are you using?

I've been doing 500 mcg of Semax intranasally in the morning or early afternoon (depending on workout timing). I fricking love it so far. No negative impacts on sleep at all. Are you taking it later in the day?

I started Semax 2 mg in the morning only. I used it for 5 days. I felt pretty high anxiety, close to panic attack. I have been having some significant stress so it’s hard to say if it’s that. I had a work trip so I stopped it for the past 4 days. I do feel better, but again, it might be a coincidence. I’m going to give it another shot when I get home to see if I get the same reaction.

I’m doing IN also.

Hayulll to the naw! I have some of both in the freezer but I won't be doing the semax if this is your experience. I am prone to anxiety.

2 mg is quite a bit. I only did 1 mg daily IN and I'm an old guy with brain damage. If you're prone to anxiety, I don't think it will help with that.

I followed your exact protocol so I am most likely wrong with what I put as my dosage! I do one spray per nose of whatever you said🤪

I didn’t think I was prone to anxiety but now really digging in, it’s probably always bubbling under the surface. I’m happy I only bought 1 kit but sad because I really wanted it to work

OH NO! Yeah, my nasal reconstitution was for 500mcg per spray. 20 mg with 4 ml sterile saline.I bet you felt like you were strapped to a jet engine! The good news is that you can recheck your calculation and add more saline to bring down the concentration and do an earth orbit reentry. 😛 Maybe Selank would make a better choice, although I'm a Semax guy forever now.

I will say the Selank greatly calmed and quieted all of the anxiety noise completely. I was hoping adding Semax would show other benefits. Nope. Not right now.

If you had asked me a month ago I would have said no way not me. It's been a real surprise to see the impact of Selank.

I have both in spray bottles all ready to go. I may wait on the semax and just try the selank this weekend. I am super high anxiety on a normal day. I definitely don't need help.

I misspoke about dosing because I did use (2) 10 mg bottles reconstituted with 4 ml sterile saline. I bought the same snoot bottles you posted and used 1 spray per nostril in the morning. I am going to try again and see if it was just a coincidence. I’m hoping it was. I’m ordering Selank today. I had to wait for my crypto to clear 🙄

You can always dial it down with more saline, but it also may just not be your thing.

After taking a week off and letting the Selank get back to normal we decided to retry the Semax testing at 200mcg first thing in the morning. So far everything seems to be working as it should. We’ll try titrating up after a week or two.

It does seem, at least for my RS, high periods of stress & anxiety coupled with Semax did not go well.
