A fun topic I think. I have both a 4 electrode and a Hume body pod with 8 electrodes. The Hume is interesting but just got it a few weeks ago. What your favorite type of body composition scale?

Do you also have a Bia scale and how did it compare?woundcarping said:Dexa is the least humorous way to practically measure body fat, that I'm aware of. It's still relatively imprecise, just the least imprecise.
I had my third dexa today, the first was 1/30.

Dexa and Tanita 4 electrode scale I have match up very closely. The inbody scale used at my doctor synced up nearly perfectly 3 different times with recently performed dexas. I bought an 8 electrode scale Runstar that looks and sounds official but runs about 4% higher in bf than every other thing I mentioned here but still great for tracking loss or gain. Just a little demoralizing when it gives a shittier result lol. I’ve found them to be very helpful. Dexa or BIA needs to be done at similar times and body conditions regarding fasted or unfasted and hydrated etc. I’ll do a dexa at some point again when I’m at my goal just because bit for me it isn’t worth the effort regularlywulf00777 said:Do you also have a Bia scale and how did it compare?

The app could use some work and it's overpriced but supposedly is one of the better ones based on comparison to Dexa.308fan said:I just got the Hume scale. I will see what happens as I loose.

Fair enough. Perfect and useful are separate things of course. I find them useful. You are exactly correct in my experience about various editions and updates. Scales and dexa both and likely operators on the dexa. Consistency is helpfulwulf00777 said:The reality is that the dexa isn't perfect either especially with the various editions and updates giving different results.

Because of the sucky Hume app and the potential for a much better app I may switch to another brand like the Renpho but hopefully better tech will come along in the meantime.Themeank said:Just my two cents on this. I’m a long time user of the Renpho scales. Obviously the scales aren’t going to be the most accurate compared to Dexa/MRI, but it’s far more economical in a weekly basis. I generally use the scales to get a rough indicator of direction, not accuracy. Honestly, the most accurate measurement outside of the expensive options are comparing to pictures online and seeing how you track
