Whatcha Printing?

I almost bought that one. I been looking for a used a1 or a1 mini for my kids. Im still not quite up to date on the whole open sourced thing. Havent had any issues yet and the bambu app is awesome. Maybe I will be against it more in the future as I learn more.

Do you know if tpu is safe to print indoors? I have somethings I want to make out of that and abs. My printer is in the living room right now so I have to be careful on what material I print. When I move it to the basement, im hoping to add some type of ventilation system.

TPU make put out a smell, but it should be safe to print inside without extra ventilation. ABS definitely needs extra filtration, ventilation, etc.

I tend to design things in openSCAD rather than the typical CAD software as usually I want things to be resizeable. I do all sorts around the house with custom prints, from special door holders for the doors out to the garden of TPU through containers for electronics projects of various types. I don't print indoors, one long PLA print back in the day had me coughing for a while and its pretty clear everything 3D printing just pollutes the air and needs ventilation the difference in the materials is mostly just dose before exposure becomes symptomatic.

Am I weird for loving the smell of PLA being printed? It’s so cozy! I have pretty immediate nausea reactions to some smells, like gasoline and exhaust fumes, but PLA…Mmmmm!

Bambu A1 Combo...I will have no need to go outside the "Bambu universe" with open source anything, cuz even though I'm a fun weirdo, when it comes to 3D printing I'm just a basic bitch!

I just got my first TPU and PETG from MicroCenter today...I have a massive project coming up and @Pocket gave me some good tips on how to prepare for and use them. I'm excited and nervous since it will be like a 30hr print with the longest leg being over a day. My poor lil Bambi (my printer's name) is gonna get a workout! There have only been 2 days since I got it that it hasn't been cranking out stuff!

Check out the BambuLab wiki on how to do a cold pull. Because the TPU is softer than PLA or PETG, it can't push the previous filament through the nozzle when loading, so always perform a cold pull when switching to TPU. It's easy and it's necessary.

Yesterday I did my first “problem solving” design & print. I have a mini fridge dedicated to peps and protein shakes, and I keep my pens in the door since they’re easy to grab from my desk chair. The fridge is opened only a few times a day, so I’m fine keeping them on the fridge door. But the little shelf lets the V2s roll off, and I had to block them with my Gensu2 and V1. I will be adding more peps to my stack in a few weeks, so that means more pens! So I designed this very simple shelf insert to keep my pens from rolling away and to give me more space. Maybe Version 2 will have sides if I see that’s an issue. Very pleased!

I printed some sewing kit inserts for a cookie tin, because everyone knows they're really for holding sewing supplies. These are getting donated to my quilting guild.

Well about that. I mentioned 3d printer in the office and one of fellas showed me his set up and programs he uses etc. This thing is massive. He clearly spent way more than I plan on spending. Anyways I have his whole set up in the cart.

Just made some earrings for my sister-in-law’s b-day gift!

I found printing them at 50% on the Z axis made it easier for jump rings to fit (i did this with the gold and silk purple color change ones). I just made the the plate was cool and was very careful with removing them.

Pen cartridge spacers

Makerworld: “3mL Insulin (or peptide) Pen Cartridge Spacer” I modified it on the Z axis to be 5mm tall. Tried one this morning for the last bit of GHK-Cu and it worked great!! Thanks @randompersonrandom and @3Ljeffy for the inspo!

I have a question about using the spacer: do you keep it in the pen the whole time or do you just put it in for that last injection? I saw some spacers on a website but they were too expensive with shipping (like they couldn't just be put into a stamped envelope ). So I took one my daughter's little beads and put it in the pen and I got out almost every drop. I was amazed. The beads are not as wide as the cartridge though so it's a less than elegant solution.

Here is my current set up. I originally only wanted a small open station printer... Just added the second ams. These things are addicting! Once I finish the spare bedroom in the basement, im moving this down there and probably getting another printer (or two). Been looking for some type of sturdy compact bench to put this on. Have it one an old side table right now.

I had to print a new bracket that holds my tuner to my side-by-side so here’s a picture of my tuner. Here’s a picture of what it looks like attached to my side-by-side and here is my side-by-side lol
