I have been stressed about my adult kids finding out about my gray secret and havent told them a thing about what im doing, going as far as making labels that will pass the snoopy kid test. I did talk to my son about Peptides and ask him if any of his friends (gym bros) are using. And he said, yeah, def.. and I was like, yeah, im curious about some of them, yada yada.. and he said, yeah, a guy at gym was asking me if I wanna buy reta.. So, im like, Nooooooooo, I dont want him to take random gym bro reta with who knows what purity or Bac water! So, I was like, would you actually wanna use Reta? He's working on improving diet/exercise, and actively losing weight. He said, I mean, yeah, maybe?

I think I will just let it slide for now, but do I tell him, if u want reta, I will get it for you? Like, I know what Id get would be CLEAN at least . He'd look at me like I was insane 🤷‍♀️

If it was my kid I would likely have an in depth discussion of the pros/cons, sourcing, potential sourcing concerns, and costs- for starters

Likely want them to do some homework as well as justify.

If after all that they wanted it, I would introduce them to the forum and offer to be their guide.

It is a tough choice to provde for someone else.

I used to go to Tijuana, and there were lines of taco stands, none of which was monitored by health dept.

I loved those tacos!!

But when I am cooking for others, I use all food management and safety precautions, I would treat this the same way. Just because I am willing to take risks, I would want them to know the facts and decide for themselves.

Wait yes! THIS is the way!!! He can do what I had to do and then decide what he wants to do and I can answer all his questions. SMART!!!

I would at least ask if he knows how it works, and all that stuff. My oldest son turned us on to Reta. He's on TRT and has a he used to work with at the FD that left to start a peptide business and that's where he gets his stuff. He used Reta for a few months to drop a few lbs when he was cutting. His wife is on Insurance Mounjaro. No big deal, and that's where I got our first 4 vials.

I think you’re correct to offer to get it off he wants it. He’s gonna get it regardless if he really wants it, so you might as well help him make sure it’s safe.

I have kids and I would be worried if they got into using peptides, even if I helped source them. It’s hypocritical I guess. And if they were to start using them I’d have to remind myself that everyone gets to make decisions for themselves. Sure I’d have a talk about safety, but also I think it would be important to talk about why they feel like they need to use them. Ultimately, if they’re gonna do it they’re gonna do it. So I might as well be there for support.

My adult daughters are both using Reta, but I provide it to them for quality assurance. Free, because I'm Dad and pay for nearly every damn thing anyway 😬. When I asked about other peps, my oldest said she had tried Semax and Selank, and a bunch of nootropics and I was floored. Here I thought I was the trailblazer. Nope. Now, they are both in their mid-20s, but if they were younger in their teens, we'd be having a very different conversation. Neither of them really drink, and drugs, other than weed, have never been an issue, so it could be worse. It helps that we've always had open conversations.

yes, similar profile. Wickedly smart and he is also an adult (over 21) Doesnt do recreational drugs or drink often (has a few times, but he thinks it slows him down too much). I like the idea of maybe sharing that I have found an alternate avenue for my tirzepitide, but I know he will tell me I am stupid for doing this. THAT SAID, If he has considered reta, he has to know that his gym buds aren't getting it from their doctor.

My kids are like the parents I never had! its a dynamic I never expected from them. If I didnt know about this community, Id be telling them they were stupid for considering this route too, so maybe this will actually be a good "friendship" building for us, since the dynamic up to now has been more Parent/child and we can share that we are both researchers. 🙂

This is all hypothetical too because he isnt jumping on the offer he got when it happened, but when I heard someone offered him Reta, my mom radar kicked off bc I KNOW that people are getting it gray and may or may NOT test it.

I also think he may have that "if I want to do something I will do it on my own" attitude. Def not one to go with the crowd, but some of your suggestions here are great.

@Skidude, my sis and I used to go to Tijuana on weekends and she got her Birth Control pills there in the pharmacy. about 12 months later, she quickly realized you should never trust birth control pills from Tijuana!

Yup. It's interesting to be on the other side in the relationship after wiping their butts, isn't it? My kids know that I always do my research, maybe over research, every major decision I make. They had a few questions around do you trust it, etc., and I explained the testing process. After that they were good to go. I feel better that they aren't looking for it on their own, even though they would probably do a good job with it.

I agree with so many, have the conversation. Talk about the good and bad. Send them here. Offer help. Let them make there own decision.

When challenged with the quandary of should I or shouldn't I, it also comes down to the math for me.

What could happen if I do and what could happen if I don't.

It might go like this:

Son, when I asked you about peps the other day it is because I know how much it is discussed in the news, in politics, podcasts, and even new FDA guidelines.

I actually have had a great interest, for sometime now, and in my reading I came across a community who share information and take a very pragmatic approach to harm reduction.

There I have seen multiple articles regarding med spas and pseudo clinics distributing without the proper caution or observance of potential harmful interactions; often leaving their clients to sort things out on their own.

As a result I have learned a great deal about the many peptides being used today and the potential pitfalls of being uninformed on safety.

If you are ever interested in these things, consider having a discussion with me prior to trying Reta or anything else not prescribed by your MD.

My kids are 42, 41 and 39. All great, not when they were younger. The little demons. As I mentioned, the oldest is on TRT and was using small doses or Reta. Middle boy could really use Reta or Tirz, very overweight. I'll see what mom thinks next time he comes home from Tampa. Baby girl is way to much of a goodie two shoes for anything, and is a marathon runner.

My kids are also a little older. They are in their 30's. Shortly after I started tirtz I told them about it. Mostly just because I have always been as honest as I can. Neither of my boys need to be on tirtz they have always been very skinny, but I did see other peps that could help them. Mainly bcp-157 and tb 500, they do very physical work. When I approached them I told them what I know to be the pros and cons and told them to research it for themselves. So far they are not ready but if that changes I really want them to come to me to try to find the safest source.

I like to to tell young parents that their relationship with their children will be far longer with them as adults than with them as children....so enjoy those years while you can...

Im still using compounded that I got thru a doc, but I think I will end up fessing when I reconstitute and use my first vial anyway.. at least if it comes up.

I feel like you have the option to split the middle and say "hey, if you decide you do want to get on reta, please promise you'll give me the chance to talk with you about what I know about testing, sources, and how to gauge relative risk in that arena. My answers to most of your 'how do you know' questions will be "none of your fucking business," but I don't want you walking around with your source of truth being a dumb shit looksmaxxer on TikTok and I think I can offer useful perspective."

I wish I had that problem. I have asked my son if he is interested - 23 yo Autism, plays video games and does not do a lot else, and obese but not extremely so, and both he and his boyfriend even more so could benefit from GLP's, but won't even think about it.

This how I got introduced to peptides. My dad introduced me to the idea as he and my step mum had been on it for a while and looked fantastic.

I then asked him A LOT of questions. Then I went away and found all the resources possible, including this place, looked at people's transformations, and researched all the other peptides. Throughout I called him up and talked more and brought up different peptides and he would tell me which ones he was on.

Finding out about it through dad and then combining that with my own research has changed my life in so many ways. I've never led as healthy a lifestyle as I am right now. Do I would back Skidudes suggested way forward. It worked for me!

Why are you stressed out about it? I'm in "adult kid" age range and everybody my age seems to be on peptides. I don't think your kids will think it's weird or embarrassing or anything.
