UK crypto set up

I have just set up a kraken account, transfered in via revolut and am waiting the 24h but for now

Exciting news 🙂 (well, it is for me!) First crypto payment successfully completed. Had to open a coinbase account - exodus could not id check me, probably because passport photo has a fatter face 😂

I am bracing myself to load coinbase and make my first purchase from China (GYC). I haven't mastered QR codes yet 🙂↕️ but wanted to ask - do all the vendors provide an address I can use to send them money?

Yes.

Plz don't impulsively use an address off an old price sheet or old email to pay. Ask for a current wallet address. Vendors frequently change them for a multitude of reasons.

Thank you for the advice. Yes, I will.
Also a vendor might present you with a singular crypto payment option when there are multiples available. So whatever crypto you have ask if they accept it. Might save you from having to make a swap.

I wouldn't have a clue how to swop 😅 However I think most accept bitcoin. It's all new to me.

Oh dear. 🥴 I have offered to pay Chinese vendor (have used before) in Bitcoin. Quote is in USD. The bitcoin I hold is in GBP. I can manage to convert it to USDC.

Will that arrive at the other end using the address provided?

Do I just overestimate the amount to send?

Sorry to sound so stupid.

I am a techno idiot and stuff I've read about crypto makes me want to lie in a dark room for 4 hours
I do that for 5-8 hours EVERY night... kind of habitually. 😉

If you're using Bitcoin ask the vendor to quote you in Bitcoin this way there's no ambiguity in conversion rates. Otherwise don't introduce a different crypto (USDC) where you're still going to have to deal with a USD quote that needs GBP conversion.

A US customer orders T30 for $100 USD

A EU customer orders T30 for $80.85 GBP

Both customers send 0.00097 Bitcoin.

Ah, thank you so much. That sounds surprisingly simple and obvious. I'll message the vendor.

Announcement - I have successfully made my first crypto purchase via China, surprising even myself. I found the process highly stressful and it took ages. I can only improve!!! Due to a little language barrier issue and me not attaching a payment voucher (I didn't know I had one 😂), the vendor couldn't find the transaction. I must have given them some extra work. Anyhow, they (Louise @ ERP) were extremely patient and managed to locate it. I felt I should celebrate my achievement in some way so I bought a new dress 🤣
