It’s one of the fun little surprises embedded in the forum. They all seemingly have a back story that I’m sure Zippity could explain if he chose. My first time running into this was trying to type b e e like a bee sting, but it kept changing it to the user name of the quiet quitting mod

so I just changed it to wasp sting and moved on.
The latest one I noticed a week or so ago was the other chat platform that starts with pep. There’s an explanation somewhere in a thread that explains that the head of that one bragged about the data mining capabilities, so they changed it here to warn us of that and prohibit links in an effort to safeguard. It’s not something I’d have ever known about.
But yeah, when it happens the first time, there’s a little bit of a gaslighting effect. “Wait, did I type that? Let me edit and try again. No, it shows correctly when I edit. Save, and it’s changed again.” It’s kind of part of the fun.
It would be nice if there was a thread somewhere (maybe Zippity’s blog) that had all of the banned words and a brief explanation of why they’re banned.
