Not particularly GLP-1 related, but I know many people supplement their GLP's with Metformin which has become quite popular as a "longevity" supplement. There's already a lot of talk about the potential antiaging benefits from GLP-1's also, so it will be interesting to see if/how these various drugs end up having some kind of benefits in the fight against aging.

Yeah man, these are definitely a cool drug impatience that have conditions they fix. I’m no expert, but if we can improve chronic conditions of drugs, it begs a question as to what these trucks can do in patient without those chronic conditions. I always say my son who is three years old will live into the new technological advent of medicine. Alldaychemist has them if anyone is interested I have diabetes, so I might talk to my doctor about adding one of these. I'm already on metformin.

I had metabolic syndrome and my stomach churned right now just thinking about taking metformin. That stuff wrecked my digestive system. I would get so sick on it. But yeah, I have heard it's anti-aging medication if you can tolerate it.

Give the slow release version a try if you haven't. Insurance doesn't usually allow the slow release version front line but if you have problems with normal release then they are fine about it. The slow release version usually doesn't have the same digestive problems.

My doctor is strongly opposed to GLP1s, but prescribed metformin off-label. I agree, it wrecked my gut, and it was the extended release. To be honest, I never stayed on it longer than a couple of weeks though because of the issues. Maybe one has to adjust?

Most doctors are opposed to anything new (except new pharms), and don't dare try to inform them.

My rheum was pretty mad when I told him in June 2024 that I had started Reta (he never gets mad, and he's pretty open to ideas). But when I returned in Dec 2024 having lost a significant amount of weight he actually clapped and congratulated me, then pumped me for info about it so he could advise his other patients who have been inquiring about GLP1s.

However, when I saw my personal doc in September I didn't dare breathe a word to her about taking Reta. Not sure I ever will.

Exactly! I only told my rheum because I've known him since 1995 and am aware that he conveniently leaves out certain truths from my medical record in order to protect me from the insurance industry. I doubt many doctors do this.

I think it's actually more common than you think, but it's definitely inconsistent and something most people don't know or think to ask about.
