I’m interested too. Only place I’ve seen it without a script is swisschems but it’s crazy expensive.

From the Wikipedia article on telmisartan:

Clinical trials have shown that telmisartan increases insulin sensitivity, reduces cardiac fibrosis and hypertrophy, and improves endothilial function; all these effects can be attributed to its activity on PPAR-γ.

Side Effects

Side effects include tachycardia and bradycardia (fast or slow heartbeat), hypotension (low blood pressure) and edema (swelling of arms, legs, lips, tongue, or throat, the latter leading to breathing problems). Allergic reactions may also occur.

Interactions

Due to its mechanism of action, telmisartan increases blood potassium levels. Combination with potassium preparations or potassium-sparing diuretics could cause hyperkalaemia (excessive potassium levels). Combination with NSAIDs , especially in patients with impaired kidney function, has a risk of causing (usually reversible) kidney failure .

What do you want to know? I've taken it for high blood pressure for years, not for performance enhancing. Out of all the high blood pressure medications it's unique in that it generally has a favourable metabolic profile (lots of them lead to weight gain, it doesn't). It also activates AMPK, which has favourable metabolic side effects.

Did you have any side effects or other problems with it? From what I read, swelling/edema is relatively rare, in less than one percent of patients.

And what was the lowest and highest dose you were on? In the PE world, 40-mg tablets seem to be the most common purchase.

I take 20mg now, but I've tried 40mg. It does lower blood pressure, so at 40mg it does that well. Only way I could see it being beneficial is if they were on a high enough dose of testosterone to raise their blood pressure significantly enough that 40mg of telmisartan wouldn't lower it too much.

In general no side effects though, and much easier on the body than most of the first line high blood pressure medications doctors usually prescribe, often for low cost reasons. Only downside is at regular prescription prices it's one of the more costly ones. I switched to it myself years ago based on my own research. When I recently got a new cardiologist and I told her what I was on, she was really impressed as she said it's the best one and not many doctors know about it or even prescribe it in typical settings.

I think some of the guys on AAS who take telmisartan are more worried about LVH and other issues rather than primarily blood pressure, since one can get LVH with relatively normal vitals.

40mg here, 80mg made my BP a bit too low intermittently (<100 / <60) which led to sometimes light headed when standing after seated a while. Switched to 40mg and now cruise at 110-120 / 65-75 happily.

Never had side effects, only excellent BP.

I actually looked into the cardiovascular endurance part but the human studies weren’t too convincing. I’ve taken it in the past but honestly, can’t remember if it helped my cardio fitness or not since it’s been so long. It seems to be the one major thing that really sets it apart from anything...
