Reta Side effect: burping.

My PRNs for some of my GI sides: simethicone, generic Voquezna from India, and Pepto (which specifically mentions belching under "Uses" on the back) or Alka-Seltzer. All of them can help different aspects of belching/burping:

Medication Your Strategy Role Why it works for GLP-1 Belching Use it when... Simethicone (Gas-X) The De-Foamer Breaks down surface tension of gas bubbles so they don't get "stuck." You feel physical bloating or sharp gas pains. Vonoprazan (Voquezna) The Acid Shield Stops acid production faster than PPIs; prevents "acid burps." You have a sour taste or burning in your throat. Pepto-Bismol The Odor Killer Bismuth reacts with sulfur gas to neutralize the rotten egg smell. You have the "sulfur burps" or mild nausea. Alka-Seltzer The Pressure Release The fizz helps force a "productive" burp to clear pressure from trapped gas. You feel "heavy" or over-stuffed after eating.

Taking simethicone with a meal (or within 30 minutes after) can be proactive rather than reactive.

I also use probiotic supplements as well as Kefir sometimes and sauerkraut (like on my vegan hotdogs). And digestive enzymes when I remember.

I actually don't mind it. It's a bit of a reminder that it's doing it's thing and slowing down the digestive process. It means I'm eating enough too. But I'm not BELCHING, just small sulphur burps.

I have a really disgusting smelling burp for a couple of days after I inject

You will get over them when your receptors adjust, Its from the dose being too high.

How's the 5mg working out for you???

2.5mg for 2 weeks and then moved to 5mg. i will be moving up to 10 mg next. saw a post on reddit about this guy not getting results from 8mg and then he moved to 15mg and then the results were big, where it finally kicked in for him. i'm not losing weight on 5mg, i'm just stagnant, and i don't eat an insane amount of food either, so i believe moving to a higher dose is the correct move

no weight loss but i notice the less appetite and also the side effects after pinning such as diarrhea and the sulfur burps. im going to do 5mg for 2 more weeks I think and then just go to 10mg

I had this in the beginning and I did just about everything that people suggested. I made changes to my diet the day before and the day of the shot. Some times I just literally drank broth. Eating anything heavy would cause the burps. I also took some enzymes and pro-biotics for a while. Used the tums or gasX pills. Then it went away after a few weeks. I haven't had it again.

I get nasty smelling burps every time I go up a dose, typically last 2-3 days before it goes away. Smells kinda like rotten Doritos 🤣

I also burp a lot - not sulphir burps. just normal burps. Just seem to have a lot of air. I've decided it doesn't bother me.
I know this is a bit old and in the Reta thread but I had the burps after doing 15 mg tirz injection(s). Usually a day or so after and only last a day or two. No sulfur or other malodorous content but a lot of air. I would be a hit if I was still in junior high saying the whole alphabet in one burp!

When I hit 3mg on reta I didn't experience the sulfur burps, but they sure as hell came out the other end, usually the day after my pin.

A fiber supplement and a good probiotic are generally good practice and have helped mitigate some of the gastro side effects for a lot of people on GLP class drugs; also remember to hit your water goals as that can assist in keeping things moving along.
So normally I’d say take betaine hcl with pepsin. It’s inexpensive. Sometimes reflux and burping is low acid. If the acid isn’t low enough ph it want trigger the sphincter to close at your esophagus. Though with the slow motility, could be fermentation. In which case the probiotic could help. Depends on what you’re eating really.

We do this with a protein power. Oat Bran, collagen and good low carb protein power with 10oz of water and shake it in the mornings.
