Reta formula , Lilly patent - How does gray market offer it ?

Does anyone have general info how China can make Reta when the product is not on the market yet and Lilly owns the patent? And then, gray vendors tout the janoshik testing to prove it is safe and legit. Never understood how this is possible. Is it as simple as chemical company gaining access to a Lilly sample and engineering the exact same product based on the sample?

I'm no chemist, but I believe it goes something like this:

The molecular structure is published as part of the FDA approval process. Peptides are relatively simple to make (which as is why Grey doesn't offer, for example, the more complicated therapies that end in -mab, meaning monoclonal antibodies).

Here is a nice petide sequencer ive been watching on ebay. You two can print your own peptides at home as there's only 20 amino acids and peptides are just chains of amino acids that send biological signals to other parts.

Although peptides are easy to manufacture the expense is in the processing, sterilization of the vials and stoppers, filling the liquid product, and finally liophylisaion. Each of these points being a possible point of failure or contamination.

It's in the final filling and lio that the economy of scale really takes over.
