Hey all,

My mom has been on name brand tirz for about 2 years now. She is diabetic and lived with it uncontrolled for about 10 years. I want to say her A1c was like 16 or something even with 2 diabetes medications. She finally started taking care of herself and got on mounjaro. It brought her A1c down to 5.5 which is amazing, but it's creeping up. She is on 15mg now and it's really not keeping her blood sugar within normal range as well as it was even though she eats a low carb/mostly keto diet. I think a lot of people are trying out reta for weight loss (I am too) but are there any people here who are type 2 diabetics who have had success with reta to manage blood sugar?
I’m not diabetic, but definitely insulin resistant. Carnivore for like 6 months and had my fasting glucose down pretty low hoping to correct the insulin issue. I actually noticed my bs is higher on Reta. But it’s definitely doing something because I have lost like 7 pounds in about 3 weeks. I read somewhere that it helps make cells more responsive to insulin. That’s a little anecdotal story.

My last A1c was 5.6. I've been in remission for 5 years. I'm not using Reta. Did I post in the Reta chat???? Oy vey... So sorry.

I’ve been on Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for type 2 diabetes for about 6 months, currently at 5 mg. During that time, my fasting glucose has generally been around ~100.

About a month ago, I started retatrutide , dosing 1 mg weekly (from a 10 mg supply), mainly as an experiment to see if the glucagon component could help accelerate liver fat reduction—which I believe is the root cause of my diabetes.

Since switching, I’ve noticed my fasting glucose has increased into the 120-130s. Nothing else has changed—same calories, same exercise, and my weight is about the same. I’m wondering if this could be related to the glucagon activity with retatrutide increasing hepatic glucose output, and whether this might normalize over time.

Yes it could be from your liver. Yes it would normalize. Also you are on a much lower equivalent dose of reta than you were on tirz so you're going to get less glucose control.
