I’ve been on Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for type 2 diabetes for about 6 months, currently at 5 mg. During that time, my fasting glucose has generally been around ~100.
About a month ago, I started retatrutide , dosing 1 mg weekly (from a 10 mg supply), mainly as an experiment to see if the glucagon component could help accelerate liver fat reduction—which I believe is the root cause of my diabetes.
Since switching, I’ve noticed my fasting glucose has increased into the 120-130s. Nothing else has changed—same calories, same exercise, and my weight is about the same. I’m wondering if this could be related to the glucagon activity with retatrutide increasing hepatic glucose output, and whether this might normalize over time.
