Just wanted to post a quick update on my reta journey.

I started back in February, and honestly things had been going really well. The weight loss was steady, side effects were manageable, and overall I felt like I was making great, fast progress and I was able to get my nutrients in and not feel too lethargic. I've been on 3mg for the last 4 weeks.

Unfortunately, about a month ago I went through some personal issues that hit me pretty hard mentally. My depression came back in a big way, and since then my appetite has completely disappeared. It's not the usual supression i felt before either. There were periods where I couldn't eat for days and had to force myself to drink anything at all just to stay hydrated.

At this point, my interest in food is basically gone and it is impossible to force myself, so my average calorie intake could be calculated around 200 on average, 600 on a good day - sometimes nothing at all. Nothing sounds appealing, and eating feels more like a chore than something I enjoy. Even liquids can be difficult some days. Because of that, I haven't pinned in 9 days now, but the lack of hunger hasn't changed at all. I still have no appetite and mostly just feel empty.

It's been a strange experience because up until this started, everything was going exactly how I hoped. Right now I'm trying to focus on getting through the depression and finding a way to get some nutrition and hydration in consistently again.

Has anyone else experienced something similar, where depression completely overrode any normal hunger cues while being on reta? I used to binge when I got sad before this, but now I just starve.

Like you, sadness or stress made me eat.

I have no experience with total loss of appetite (unfortunately in my case) and very little with depression but I think that it must be awful for you.

On top of that, when your body isn't getting the minimum nutrients, you're definitely not going to feel any better.

I really hope you get out of this situation and wish you lots of strength!

I can't say that I've experienced anything similar, but I can see that this must be very frustrating for you. With or without reta, depression tends to either heighten or decrease appetite, depending on the person. How depression interacts with reta is to my knowledge unknown.. Perhaps try reducing your dose back down? 200kcal/day is starvation and isn't sustainable.

Seems to be all over the place depending on the person. My RS has been really stressed lately, and they just titrated up to 4mg at the same time. They somehow were more hungry than ever on the higher dose. This is something ive only read about before from others, some feeling extreme appetite suppression while others say no suppression at all, especially compared to tirz

Sounds like you needed to skip a dose a bit sooner than you did but at least you're on the right track now. Total loss of appetite and having to force myself to eat happened to me at 4mg but I soldiered on for an extra week at that dose, which was foolish. The load you're carrying will slowly decline in concentration and hopefully your interest in food and your appetite should come back up over 2 weeks, which you should be 9 days into.

My heart is sad for you. I truly know how depression in itself has an effect on your body before peptides. But there are peptides to help with that. I can’t comment on them here so keep researching. God Bless!

I’m sorry to hear you are going through this. GLP1s aside, I hope you seek treatment for the depression. You don’t have to nuke your way through it.

At least force yourself vitamins 2x a day. Vitamin d with k2 and a prenatal. They have iron. It really helps with my depression.

First please find a mental health professional to talk to right away. Try eating dark chocolate.

above 60% It does help. So does listening to music you love, dancing to it. Listening to the you tube binaraural music for anti depression. alaso walks in nature, and sunshine. Call friends.

Lemon balm tea is helpful.

Are you in perimenopause ? there are herbal supplements that really help.

I was depressed last year before I started, and all of these helped bring me back.

our thoughts are with you.

It's extremely common for people who are going through a divorce to have depression and lose weight. Especially the partner that was blindsided by the break up. Depression can go both ways. One where all interest in everything, including eating goes away, and the other where people cope by stuffing them selves with food.

As many other have said, please seek help! Your Reta journey does not matter if your mental health is struggling

Anhedonia was a huge problem for me on Reta. It took a full month to return to normal after I stopped pinning. So may take a full month for your food intake to go back to where it would be if you were just depressed.

Until then, there are high calorie protein shakes you can probably force down a couple of times a day, and definitely get some vitamins.

You’ll have to assess what is you and what is the Reta when the time comes. But one thing at a time.

Thank you all for the kind words and suggestions, I just managed to catch up with this thread now.

I'm still doing pretty poorly when it comes to food and I have decided to stop Retatrutide for now, until I feel better, so hopefully soon my hunger will be back and I can maybe start at a lower dose again. For now I will focus on getting some help for my struggles though.
