I apologize if this gets a bit long...
When I was younger I use to run and race on a road bike as an amateur. Over the years I tore my MCL twice, meniscus twice in my right knee and left inner gastronomic muscle.
This meant no more running (there is no cartlidge in my right knee) and there would be mild inflammation after hiking.
Last year I was diagnosed with arthritis in my left foot. I wasn't able to walk for more than 30 minutes without a lot of discomfort.
I'm just in my mid 60's and thinking.....is that it ? I can't hike in Beautiful British Columbia, let alone walk for more than 30 minutes.
This is where Reta comes in. I started Reta for the glucagon benefits and I read in the NY Medical Journal that at the end of phase 2 trials 25% of participants with knee osteoarthritis left the clinic "pain free".
I started Reta in January @ 0.5mg and titrated up 1mg every 6th day. I have been dosing 8mg for the past 5 weeks.
After the 4th week, I started noticing the pain in my left foot is diminishing. I was pain free after 2 months. The bone spur in front of my big toe is still there, but it is not as painful as before when you press on it. Also, there is no inflammation in my right knee after hiking with moderate elevation.
Last month I started going to the gym after dinner to RUN on the treadmill. For me this is incredible. I would love to go to my orthopedic surgeon and tell him about it.
I hope this might help others with similar issues
