Practical Paranoia?

Regardless of my politics or personal beliefs about what's happening in the world right now, I try to separate my emotional reactions from my practical ones.

From a purely practical standpoint: I'm concerned that continued escalation at the Strait of Hormuz, combined with other geopolitical instabilities, will make international shipping significantly more difficult and expensive very quickly. Layer on top of that the likely sharp rise in manufacturing and materials costs, and the math starts to get uncomfortable. As a result, I have started stockpiling (5+ years worth) my most used/valued peptides for long-term freezer storage. This isn't shortage hoarding. This is long-term political contingency planning.

Anyone else operating from a similar place of practical paranoia?

I'm on the fence now, but leaning heavily towards what your saying. I'm 5yrs on Tirz & 2 yrs on Reta, but light on others. Kitchen Sink Protocol is a few clicks away though, got me thinkin hard!

There are always multiple reasons/excuses to hoard. But most people I know only go crazy with the GLPs for hoarding.

I have tirz hoarded the most, followed by reta.

Im more worried about the world ending in 4 or 5 years... no surprise it starts in the middle east. I guess the silver lining is we won't have to worry about losing weight, blood sugar, cholesterol or liver and heart disease.... i expect glp1s to become dirt cheap when WWIII kicks off, just there's a high likelihood you'll never receive your package lol....

Peptides are easy to stock; syringes, bac, and alcohol wipes have a short expiration date by comparison.

Peptide wise, I'll be 40 next month... If it still exists, I'll need to deal with Social Security before ordering more peptides to control my food intake/weight.

The real threat that will be much more catastrophic is AI. There will be mass unemployment due to AI. Ive been in the industry for 30 years and have seen it all but nothing like this.

Last year, where I work , all code was written by engineers. This year, not a single engineer is writing a single line of code. Its 100% AI. We ship features in days not months. We have 100+ engineers but soon the CEO will realize all the work can be done by 10.

New grads with 200K plus degrees in computer science can not find jobs in the field as AI has taken over that role.

People getting laid off due to AI are not going to be able to find new jobs as almost all companies have started or are way on their way to implementing AI fully in their orgs.

Trades will survive much longer (electricians, plumbers, builders...) but with a massive population globally unemployed , there wont be any work for them either...

AI is not just effecting tech. Lawyers, Accountants and even doctors - almost any industry you can think of is going to get hammered.

I feel like this is putting the cart way before the horse. I have yet to see AI be able to do anything more than add two buttons to a webpage (and even then, it can't manage it without adding 1,000 unnecessary lines and deleting half the already-functional features). It may work for a while for shittily built apps like Duolingo (for a while at least, as tech debt grows exponentially with every new feature). There's speculation that a lot of companies are using AI as an excuse for layoffs when the actual reason is multiple years of over-hiring during COVID.

AI is not replacing doctors, lawyers, or accountants anytime soon. The only thing it can do is shit out Reddit-level answers that are complete horseshit 40% of the time. This AI hype reminds me of 2015 when supposedly self-driving cars were taking over the world. Eleven years later, we're about 1% closer to a self-driving future than we were in 2015. Truck drivers and Amazon delivery jobs haven't gone anywhere.

I don't have enough knowledge about geopolitics or logistics to comment about the Iran war. But I would be very surprised if anything could disrupt US-China trade at this point. Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, etc. didn't donate h.u.ndreds of m.i.llions to, you know, for nothing. And China also has plenty of incentive not to let its GDP drop 30% if exports are disrupted.

My company sold 3 plants to a huge frozen food storage company. They said theyll keep all the employees 6 months ago. May 1st theyll all be laid off except for a small group selected for the upgraded 80% automated million sf warehouse.... theres plans for a fully automated warehouse in 2 years which will set precedence... no more forklift drivers, yard jockeys, order selectors, truck drivers, shippers/receivers, payroll, HR, etc.....theres self driving, fully autonomous trucks running the southwest and west now and they can manage traffic, blizzards and mountain passes. No longer a driver and engineer on board. In 6 years no more humans in transportation and logistics except for a small percentage.

I despise ai.... John Connor was to stop this shit 30 some years ago but he didnt and Skynet lives.... hope the universal monthly stipend for us unemployed humans is more than social security....

Ai is running robotic cancer surgeries and fully autonomous trucks are running sw lanes on a Sony account. No human on board anymore. Granted, specific controlled routes right now.... 90% of us are out of work in 6 or 10 years.
