Yes i searched for this already, different topic than other pen threads.

I would like to try a pen for testosterone. I have been told if does not work well by a few, that seams logical. But I want to dig deeper and ask around. I have found 29 gauge tips. Which I currently use for testosterone injection. So I am thinking a heavy duty manual pen would be my best bet. I imagine an auto pens spring wouldn't be enough. So my question is who here has tried this themself? Did it work? And what pen? I am also wanting to know which manual pen is the most heave duty/best biult? I plan on trying this, as I'm going to buy a pen anyways for peps. And advice would be apperciated.

I have no personal experience but have heard that many like the Convi and Gensu2 for oils. I think the biggest worry is that regular cartridge stoppers may not hold up to oils and can degrade over time. I believe there is a company that is making cartridges out of an oil friendly compound, but I can't remember the name. I believe Goodlife was going to try to source them?

I experimented with a Grapeseed Oil Testosterone and after months on a cartridge it did not affect the plastic plunger at all. But I never actually injected.

I think it depends on the carrier oil. Something like MCT oil which has very low viscosity will be easier to use with pens but it is also more likely to react with the plastic plunger in the cartridge.

Houston, we have two issues to report.

1. Black rubber plungers often melt due to the carrier oil. Granted it usually takes over a week, but those pens hold meds for longer times than one week. Is the pen even compatible with the oil long term?

2. While thin needles can be used, most of the carrier oils are not thin enough to work well with anything less than a 25g needle. Hard (impossible) to find pen needles in larger sizes.

Unless you can find a special setup (both a heavy duty pen and correct unicorn large pen needles), I do not see how this can work.

I use 27g insulin syringes with test 250. Usually goes right in no problem. Sometimes it is a struggle with delts. I would think that subq would be fine.

Oh I do heat it up though.

29g and 31g here. Vials are in my bra for 5 minutes or so.

I used pens for my grapeseed-based for a time.

The 31 is very slow to pull from the vial (syringes) and dispense from a pen. But it is possible. My rubber stoppers never melted. Very slow to me might be too slow for someone else so YMMV.

What starts to happen with a pen and thinner gauges with oil: it requires more pressure/ longer to move through a click. Which means it was easier for me to jostle when reaching around awkwardly to some areas like upper glute. I go SQ with my HRT. I got tired of the jostling (ow) so went back to syringes for oils.

I tried a 25g and since I’m not a health care professional I harpooned myself. Maybe a 27 would be worth trying some time. I’ll use 25 for pulling in a leuer lock but not injecting. Ow.

Pens for water-based is a no-brainer. I wish I would have jumped on it sooner.

With MCT oil, works fine, but much slower and possibly keep pen in your pocket to warm up if your room is cold. Use it with Gansulin and measured accuracy with syringes multiple times before trusting it. I just wait 5 Mississippi's after hearing the last click.

With manual pens like V2, I noticed the accuracy can vary quite a bit by how fast you push the plunger. Very slowly and its within a unit or two accuracy repeatedly, push as fast as oil allows and it will underdose grossly.

V2 pen with 31ga 1/2” needle subq. Takes 30 seconds to inject 20 units then wait 10 seconds to withdraw. It burns for a minute but easy otherwise. Cartridge has never leaked and I fill 2 at a time which lasts me a few months.

UPDATEEEEEEEE 😡

Good afternoon guys:

I have to say I’m a bit disappointed in my doctor; he diagnosed me with secondary hypogonadism and hyporeninemic hypertension. It turns out that, in order to prescribe the testosterone and give me the dosage protocol, the doctor requires an annual fee that I can't afford. My plan was to use the testosterone he prescribed and go in for check-ups every three months with the tests he ordered, but that’s not going to happen now.

So, I am asking for your guidance and wisdom.

What should I do? How much should I inject, what blood tests should I get, and when should I have them done after the injection?

any advice its wellcome.
Most people suggest not DIY first year, go to a clinic like TRT nation, I am sure you can find others suggested here.

If you insist on going it alone, I would go to fitomics or goodlabs and start with a base line test that way you will get tracking on the portal.

I like Labcorp but I am sure quest has something similar on their portal.

This way when you go on your own later you have a history.

sorry i reply wrong thread, im not in USA 🙁

I was thinking about a V1 with a 29g needle. Currently drawing with a 18 and pinning with a 25 3x a week. I mostly just want to reduce time sp not in the morning as that is when I run or work out and it is always a race to get to work.

I should add that I read threads on here and meso where guys used all kinds of pens for oils.

This is so interesting! I’d always assumed oils and TRT were IM shots and that pen needles were too short for that (admittedly I know next to nothing about these.) Very cool to read people’s experiences and learn something new.

My testosterone cypinate says IM on the instructions as muscle has more blood flow therefor get the test in your system faster(and out ofyour system faster). Sq is a slower and slightly less consistent absorption rate. But more frequent injections evens things out to the piont where it doesn't matter in a measurable way. I prefer sub q. Self injecting a 31 gauge 5/16" insulin syringe was hard for me at first with peps. 1.25" 25 gauge IM realy freaked me out and I prefer not to do it. Even know it doesn't hurt ant more than the 31 gauge sq.

I have been doing this for a year in my Delts.. just have to be patient when loading the syringe.. helps to have good air pressure in there.

I press deep and rotate right to left...

Very little fat there so "hybrid"?

I saw it posted a few days ago that it was a popular method.

From the web:

Key Takeaways

Shallow IM injection penetrates 0.5-0.75 inches into muscle tissue using 25-27 gauge needles

Provides 15-20% better absorption than subcutaneous with less pain than deep IM

Deltoid and vastus lateralis are optimal injection sites for this technique

Requires proper needle selection and injection angle for safety and effectiveness

Most suitable for patients seeking improved absorption without deep muscle discomfort

That's what I do with NAD+ with 8mm needles! LOL I thought I was innovative!

Bingo. Injection frequency, depth (IM vs SQ vs uh ”hybrid” lol) and type of the hormone need to compliment in the treatment plan. Mine is twice a week. I’ve heard some females go once a month to a clinic for test, maybe slower acting and in a slower location? 🤷‍♀️ Not my concern I guess. I’m happy with having steady levels.

Ties to the very good idea to find a clinic to work through for the first year or three. You can follow some recipe online but things can get dialed in nicely with a clinic. It’s not as formulaic as peptides.

The proof is in the pudding. I transferred all of our peps to pens tonight except for Tirz because it's only once a week. I have 29G 1/2" pen tips coming but they haven't shown yet and I was impatient. You can use a Savvio to pin 40 units of test cypionate in cottonseed oil with a 32G 1/4" tip. Took a little time but no problem and still less hassle than changing luer locks and considerably less going into the sharps bin.
