Wanted to get opinions here on appetite suppression. I am currently on week 4 of taking Reta. Week 1 was .5mg, week 2 was 1mg, week 3 & 4 were 2mg. The first week I had felt some appetite suppression but since that time I really have felt no appetite suppression. Thinking of splitting my doses to half weeks. I know some people say tirz works better for that so would be adding a small dose of tirz be too early for this? Wanted to see if anyone had a similar case.

You can predict the dose by the thread title.

Increase your dose.

To add to what he said. Stick with a dose for 4 weeks and let it start working. I would do 2mg to start. I did at least 4 weeks on every dose and we've been fine. Up to you though.

I just posted about this on another thread. If you are looking primarily for appetite suppression, Reta isn't the right med, Tirz is better at this. Since appetite suppression is not a primary effect of Reta, it should not be the metric you use to decide your dose. Reta is harder on your system than other GLPs. Just cranking the dose until it suppresses your appetite is not a good idea and I am alarmed at how many times I see this advice.

I have seen benefits for my blood glucose on Reta which has been great even while having lost no weight. I think I might add tirz to get the appetite suppression but I wanted to see other experiences with trying that.

Regardless of appetite, with assumptions made, .5-2mg/week isn’t a practically therapeutic dose of Reta.

Appetite suppression is an effect of Reta, but as you allude, it’s not its biggest benefit over something like Tirz.

There’s a hand full of these threads started every week, invariably they’re at a tiny to low dose and want to stack instead of getting Reta to a point to see benefits.

Im not saying it doesn't have benifits or that you shouldn't use it. I'm just saying that if your goal is appetite suppression, Tirz is better at that but if you are going to stay on Reta, appetite suppression is not what should determines your dose.

I think there is a good argument for stacking at low doses. For instance, I was at about 4.5mg on Tirz with good appetite suppression but, after an initial bout of fatigue that passed after a couple weeks, my energy level still seemed lower than usual. I dropped my Tirz to 3mg and added 1mg of Reta. I will need a few weeks to judge and tweek, but at this point, I see a noticeable increase in energy. You may want build a little longer in your system before you make changes though.

Are you gaining weight? If not, stick to 2mg for 4 weeks, then increase if not loosing weight. Idea is to get to optimal weight lost dose for you, which will have tolerable or no side effects and you loosing at least .5lb weekly on average. Don't rush things, stick to the tried and true protocol. It's a long game. If you reach 10-12mg and need anything more then you should think about splitting or stacking.

For weight loss when do you start seeing it work?

no my weight is fairly steady. I’m up like .4 pounds in the last two weeks. But that’s like margin of error for me.

Non-Responders Assemble!!

Started at 218, 'diet&excercised' down to 200, then a solid stall.

Fifteen weeks inwith Reta, worked my way up to 12mg, every side effect but no noticeable appetite suppression.

Week one I felt the slowing digestion effects, but still starving hungry...the reflux and the indigestion were heavy. Added Cagrilintide without much change, so far.

Heart rate and sleep disruption finally added up to 'enough'...total weight loss - 3 lbs.

Switching to Survodutide, with the Cag.

Be more patient. Let it build up in your system.

Reta is not Tirz. The glucagon effect is real, you actually need to make sure you are getting enough of both protein and carbs.

You may not be feeling the hunger suppression between meals, but how do you feel while eating? Are you naturally eating smaller portions? His is more important than food aversion.

One of the major benefits of Reta is that it does not make you food averse. But at the same time, enables better nutrient partitioning, strong satisfaction, and higher resting metabolic rate.

First week. It was 5lbs, I'm sure a bunch was water weight, as we started a lower carb diet at the same time.

I have been hitting my protein and carb goals. I don’t really anymore but in terms of meals I don’t feel any more satiated than normal.

I did this exactly—same doses, same timeframe—and I’m feeling so much better.

I was on 1mg/week for the first four weeks. Throughout that month I could tell my stomach was empty and that I was in need of calories. Sort of hungry, but not interested in food. When I would eat I would fill up quickly. Now that I am on 2.5mg a week, I feel this less. However, when I eat, sometimes I get grossed out by my food and don't want to eat, even pizza!

Just throwing this out there as another data point.

If you're experiencing no sides at all, then slowly titrating up shouldn't be too risky, but be careful with your blood sugar and keep your carbs/water/electrolytes up.

The smartest and safest thing would be to keep the 2mg steady for a couple more weeks, and then go up to 4mg if needed.

I wouldn't recommend pinning every 3 days or adding Tirz and more variables so early in your journey.

The problem people have is in trusting the process. 2mg for 4 weeks is the starting dose in obese subjects, not just for side-effects but for metabolic stability. Starting high does not cause a person to get more benefit from reta. It will cause more appetite suppression, which will produce maybe 2-3% more weight loss in those early weeks due to glycogen depletion and water loss, but over the course of 12 weeks, it will not actually produce more overall weight loss, and the weight lost would be less total fat than if one titrated up.

On the other hand, going too low for too long also will not produce the desired metabolic changes someone wants with reta.

Been in 1mg for 2 weeks now and have basically zero appetite! Truly didn't expect to have any reaction but I have to remind myself to eat now as I never tend to feel hungry. Everyone is different

This. I started with Sema and then added Reta, fearing it would not keep my food noise at bay based on others' reports. Over a year of slowly titrating up, I have been gotten brave enough to ditch the Sema and for the last two months only use Reta. Now, I am titrating the Reta down from 12 mgs per week and monitoring my food noise related to the blood level estimated by Shotsy. I realize my mileage may vary, but I was pleasantly surprised by the suppression, and I hope others are as well.

My body is responding just not for appetite suppression. Going to give it more time since I’m at a low dose still and if not try tirz.

yeah I feel that definitely just wondering when that appetite suppression will hit. It seemed like after 4 weeks most patients had some sort of appetite suppression.
