Libido return?

Yes, it is very real, it called Anhedobnia. There are reports of people quitting all kinds of addictive behaviors like smoking, gambeling and things like that.
I don't see libido as an addictive behavior. Well maybe when I was in my 20's. 😁 I do know people that have given up drinking and drugs, or really slowed down their usage. Myself, we used to go out on friday nights and find a live music venue to party. That has almost stopped completely. I didn't connect it with Reta, but then again, the becoming more of homebodies did happen about the same time that I started Reta. The going out and partying was replaced with smoking some weed and getting naked much earlier in the night than after going out.

and now I’m about to ask her to be my girlfriend.

I had absolutely no idea that was still a thing. I don't object to it, I just didn't realize doing a formal petition before calling each other that was a thing.

I hit this wall when I started Tirz last year. I bring it up to my doc at my physical and he always says that libido loss isn’t a documented side effect. But obviously for some, it is.

Otherwise my numbers are normal with T and other hormones. PT141 helps me get going, but even with that it’s difficult to finish the task 100% and the motivation still isn’t there.

Another related thing I have noticed is I would see women who I would randomly think were attractive, that’s gone as well. My celebrity crush has always been Jennifer Aniston, still a nope (which sucks). But I do still think my wife is hot. That’s all I care about.šŸ˜‹

I'm thinking it's an indirect side effect rather than a direct one.

Just my 2 cents based on my own experience with long term calorie restriction and dieting...

Low caloric intake has a massive impact on libido. It'll drop your testosterone levels too if you're at a big deficit for a long time (subjective here but i'd say multiple weeks to months). It won't drop T directly though (primary hypogonadism), typically you'll have low LH and FSH (secondary hypogonadism) if your body is in survival mode rather than reproduce mode.

How far are you from your maintenance calories?

You'll also want to make sure you're getting enough of the right vitamins and minerals. B complex vitamins (preferably methylated), boron, zinc, D3 & K2, magnesium are all super important for testosterone levels and general health.

Also, how's your sleep?

Not getting enough REM sleep or enough sleep in general will have a big impact on libido as well.

Hello everyone, hope y’all are doing good. I wanted to start a discussion regarding libido and those who have been pretty affected by the drastic decrease of it. Obviously it’s well documented GLP1s and Reta specifically can affect your libido. I (27m) started 0.5mg Retatrutide on April 1st and bumped up to 1mg two weeks later. I took my last dose on April 22nd as the libido and general lack of desire side effects were too strong for me. I felt flat lined and sort of not present. I feel more plugged back in now but my libido is just not what it used to be. It feels like part of me is missing. I have a girlfriend and I really enjoy the sex but I feel like I’m missing that primal visceral feeling your body gets when it’s functioning properly. I just feel sorta meh about it when I think about it when we’re not actively having sex. Sex is hardly something that crosses my mind when it was something that constantly crossed my mind in the past. Anyone else experience this and can offer any feedback?
It was like this initially for me, I also had no desire to eat, drink booze etc.

5 months in, I can say all of that had resolved a couple of months ago.

Libido is quite strong, I can eat when I want, but don’t have any food noise.

Booze is still effected, and if I do have a drink, I get incredible heart burn, motivation to minimize the heartburn is strong, so I mostly just say no.

53 yo male, also on low dose TRT (3.2 mg eod) and daily 5mg of tadalafil.

Saw this on threads

Probably worth a read. I get blood work done and am on a supplement stack to address deficiencies.

That may be the difference.

Melissa (@melscan) on Threads

I found the mother load of posts on Fb. It was over 300 women commenting on the same experience as mine. And guess what? It had a name. Anhedonia. GLP’s dial down your dopamine food rewards. (It gets rid of the food noise). Turns out, it lowers the volume on overall joy. They talked about a supp...

LOL I agree! I didn't mean to refer to libido as addictive, I should have said it Yes, it is very real, it's called Anhedobnia. It makes you feel flat and can affect your libido also there are reports of people quitting all kinds of addictive behaviors like smoking, gambeling and things like that.

I guess for some of us oldskoolers it is, at least for me. I unwillingly ended up in a few "situationships" that I had no idea what they were, really. So it is refreshing when a guy asks that question - shows intention, not just desire. Nowadays, you have no idea what you're walking into šŸ„“šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ«Ŗ

Well sadly it imploded today only a day after I asked her because I told her about my anhedonia and feelings of uncertainty that show up. Pretty devastating stuff

Never ask a woman for a relationship of any kind.

Oh no! Did you mention that was temporary? Sometimes being open can be a double edged sword. Hopefully she will come around and realize your worth.šŸ¤ž

Lol, now that’s a little extreme.

The stuff does cause mild anhedonia, for me, I guess for a lot of people. It's like it lowers dopamine, but I am not sure if that is the mechanism that causes this. But it's the mechanism that generally causes anhedonia. What I am doing and I think what needs to be done is to add something to counteract that, like Semax. Works for me. You could try anything that raises dopamine, but there's not many things that do it, lots of exercise, TRT/HRT. Possibly an HGH enhancer like Ipamorelin, Tesa, or CJC, or it may be the other way around. Mucuna Pruriens does not work, IMO. Nicotine. Other drugs which I would not recommend anyone partake in.

My research subject felt this way about 5 weeks into R3ta. We upped the carb intake, got some exercise and pushed through it. Feeling really good now.

I think that sounds charming, honestly. I'm in a place in my life where I sort of pray that whatever dude I like, respect, and enjoy sleeping with and who clearly likes, respects, and enjoys sleeping with me will just let this be whatever it is without examining it too closely for however long it lasts until one or the other loses interest and we gradually evolve back into being fond friends with a history, or we never do and this just sort of goes on til one of us dies or circumstances mean it ends; but it I WERE looking to partner up, I think "Would you like to be my girlfriend?" would be very sweet.

Is this a real Reta side effect? It's the first that I've heard of it.
I refer to it as monk mode. Its not even sex. Its like any distraction that deep down you know isnt getting you to your goal. Lazer focus on Gym. Diet. Sleep. Repeat. So sayeth our savior reta lol.

I like the freedom your approach brings. Sadly, I am the ball and chain type. I guess I have abandonment issues I need to sort out and maybe some selank!

NO, don't you dare! I'm not a pick me, I've just demonstrated MULTIPLE times that I can neither choose nor be a good life-partner and I'm not trainwreckin my life AGAIN for dick and problems. If you think you even MIGHT be able to do better, go get you a love story!
