Hello everyone, hope y’all are doing good. I wanted to start a discussion regarding libido and those who have been pretty affected by the drastic decrease of it. Obviously it’s well documented GLP1s and Reta specifically can affect your libido. I (27m) started 0.5mg Retatrutide on April 1st and bumped up to 1mg two weeks later. I took my last dose on April 22nd as the libido and general lack of desire side effects were too strong for me. I felt flat lined and sort of not present. I feel more plugged back in now but my libido is just not what it used to be. It feels like part of me is missing. I have a girlfriend and I really enjoy the sex but I feel like I’m missing that primal visceral feeling your body gets when it’s functioning properly. I just feel sorta meh about it when I think about it when we’re not actively having sex. Sex is hardly something that crosses my mind when it was something that constantly crossed my mind in the past. Anyone else experience this and can offer any feedback?

in for the info. Just started a couple days ago so no help yet. I was thinking the opposite might occur. Like your body more, feel sexy, have sexy. I'm new here but considered starting a "how many inches did you gain" post 🤣

Is this a real Reta side effect? It's the first that I've heard of it.

I know what you mean. It hit me bad after just 8 weeks on Reta, I quit and it took about 2-3 weeks before I got to feeling better but I am still not the same as I use to be. I have some PT141 on the way with hope of it getting me back on track.

As far as I can tell, this is generally not a known or common side effect from the studies, but given these drugs mess with the reward circuitry in your brain to reduce eating and other addictive behaviours, it would not surprise me if it messed with libido in some people. In the same way that it can cause anhedonia in some people.

As the half life of reta is 6 days, it will take 24 days to get to 1/16th of the blood level it was when you were taking it , so it is still in your system and could still be having an effect which most likely will go away once it is fully out of your body rather than hanging around as an after effect.

I think it is. I feel the same way. It’s not like a problem to have sex but the physical drive is almost non existent.

I’m having the same problem. It’s not like I have a problem having sex at all but the drive has definitely diminished. It hasn’t stopped but it has been a side effect for me for sure. Thanks for posting, I haven’t really seen anyone else post about it.

Let me know how the PT141 goes. Sorry you’re having the same experience! It’s a little jarring

Really glad to know I’m not alone. I know libido has been talked about but as far as after affects post-Reta? Not sure. I totally agree about what you said regarding it not being a problem to have sex, cause it totally isn’t. I enjoy it and it’s not un pleasurable. I’m able to climax fine and it feels good in general but it just feels like there’s something missing chemically and that my body is physically not responding to it the same.

I take testosterone TRT at 125 mg per week and I'm usually very sexually active. With Reta, I noticed it worsened for the first three months, then it improved somewhat. Now I've increased to 200 mg of testosterone and it seems to have improved.

BPC and TB500 also affect anhedonia. This occurs with different peptides and, as others have mentioned, is due to a lack of dopamine and the brain's reward system.

Other than an allergic reaction that was my main concern when I began. I would say hopefully its just a phase but since you've been without a dose for 37 days it seems more than a little a concerning.

I'm going to ask the urologist when I go see him and see what he says. Low T, no clue. Last few blood tests didn't do that.

Thankfully I have an appointment with my PCP coming up and I will discuss this and hopefully get some labs done!

Dont have an answer for you but just wanted to let you know I have almost the same experience. No "performance issues", having sex is enjoyable still but it's gone from something I spent a lot of time thinking about/initiating to more of a "take it or leave it" thing. My libido was already reasonably higher than my wifes so this is not something that has had a negative impact on our relationship, though I suppose in certain situations I could see how it could be.

I was telling a friend of mine about it and he was like that sounds terrible but I told him it's weird b/c pre-Reta I would have said the exact same thing as him but now that I am experiencing it, it doesnt really bother me. Like it sounds weird but when you don't really care it doesnt bother you b/c, well, you don't really care.

I also drank pretty heavily pre-Reta and one of my concerns before starting any kind of glp which I told my wife was that I enjoyed drinking and didn't want to not want to drink. But now that I am on the other side and I don't care about drinking it's actually totally fine.

My assumption is it's just all related to the same parts of the brain that cause the decreases in cravings for junk food and alcohol. From what I have read it seems like a reasonably common side effect.

For the Low T concerns - I have not had post-reta blood work done so I can't give any hard data here but anecdotally morning wood has returned for the first time in over 5 years, so anecdotally I feel like my T is doing just fine.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Personally for me it’s a bit concerning because I’ve just started a new relationship. Seriously, my last dose of 1mg Reta was the night of our first date and now I’m about to ask her to be my girlfriend. So it’s invoked a ton of feelings of insecurity, uncertainty, and confusion about where my sexual desire/drive has gone. It’s also quite confusing because it makes me question if it’s just I’m not attracted to her specifically, but I’m not jonesing for anyone else or even thinking about sex in general… ugh! I also take a ton of Ashwaghanda and according to ChatGPT after putting my full medication regiment in (grain of salt because ChatGPT obviously), it did provide some information that too much Ashwaghanda can cause a flat affect among certain people. Been trying to find more information about this online but it’s been difficult. So I will be stopping that as well.

Yes, it is very real, it called Anhedobnia. There are reports of people quitting all kinds of addictive behaviors like smoking, gambeling and things like that.

From what I have read it doesn't happen to everyone. It did me and quit taking REta for a month It got better but not 100% yet. Some people told me to make sure I was getting lots of water and electrolytes protein also they say calorie deficit and weight loss effects it some It has something to do with Dopamine.
