I had to quit caffeine almost entirely, but I've always been a very poor metabolizer.

Early on the sleep disturbances were worse, but now in week 3 I find what helps me the most is eating a couple of low fat cheese sticks from Sam's club before bed. 50 calories 6g protein.

Apparently casein protein digests slowly and some bodybuilders take it before bed and it digests throughout the night. Looking at sourcing some of that.

Reta wrecked my sleep the first go-round. Sticking to lower doses for longer this time. So far so good.

As for casein, when I was lifting heavy, I would mix a few scoops with Greek yogurt at night. Something like 40-50g of protein combined.

Been on ozempic in the past with no response, felt defeated. First pin with Reta last Friday @2mg… BOOM!! Crushed my appetite. I wasn’t expecting that. No other side effects except sleep patterns have changed. Wake up at like 3am last few nights. In the health industry so iam chalking this up to cortisol rise from the appetite suppression. I will try a last night snack but thought I would see if anyone else has found things that work.
You're thinking about this the right way. It may be a reactive cortisol spike from your blood glucose dipping at 1-2 AM. In very simple terms, the body freaks out a bit at the glucose dip and in an effort to increase glucose, it releases cortisol. That the cortisol wakes you up. I've been down this path a couple of times with Reta. When I first started on it a year and a half ago...and more recently again after I rapidly escalated dose.

Both times, I put on a CGM to monitor glucose. To my surprise, it was flat as a pancake. So no glucose dip and likely no cortisol spike. In your case, you should eat some greek yogurt and/or Extend bars to help keep steady glucose. If that solves the problem, great.

In my case, after a clean process of elimination, I came to the conclusion that Reta dose increase (mostly from its glucagon agonism) was forcing a strong sympathetic drive and that's causing the sleep disruption. Reta was triggering the central nervous system. To those of us predisposed to this, sleep can be hard to find.

What worked for me was to back off to a dose that did not cause sleep disruption and stay there for a couple of months. Then inch up in dose. It took me 8 months to get up to 2 or 3 mg weekly. I have a colleague on Reta who started at 2 mg and could not sleep. He backed off to 0.5 mg per week and is sleeping well. His escalation trajectory (and possibly yours) may be a slow one. If you want to sleep.

I have had the opposite experience. For the first month and a half, I honestly felt like I had narcolepsy. I would struggle to stay awake, especially in the afternoon. I've NEVER been one for naps but I did nothing but sleep. It did seem worse when my appetite suppression was greater. It's not as bad now and I'm back to my usual insomnia.

Feel like that would be worse.

Damn.. this got expensive. This tastes great.. or it did back in 2020. I used to make hot chocolate with it before bed.

Just FYI, you can and should delete 90% of that URL. Everything after the ref tag is a complex tracking system meant for Amazon to build analytical relationships between you and where you post the link and everyone that clicks on it.

Bulksupplements has casein protein 1kg for $35 and Nutricost has 5lbs with vanilla flavoring for $67.

If you're looking for something that tastes great... well that can definitely get expensive.

Edit: It does look quite yummy though. It's a shame that the world is in turmoil and prices are hectic.

Thanks but I honestly stopped trying a while ago. I switched it to an iHerb link for a smaller tub that was less $.

EVERYTHING you touch is data tracking... down here it is now all the Flock Safety cameras. The schools are the absolute worst with those chromebooks, apps and testing with your kids info. Nothing is sacred anymore.

DSIP helps with sleep. Per a document "Peptide & Compound Master Reference, I found:

Common Stacks: DSIP + CJC w/o DAC + Ipamorelin = sleep/GH optimization stack. Add Melatonin for circadian layer.
May I ask a potentially stupid question? What is dsip?

It isn't a stupid question at all. When I started learning about peps I had no idea what anything was.

DSIP = delta sleep inducing peptide. It helps "restructure sleep architecture" for those of us with a whacky broken circadian rhythm or insomnia. It is not a sedative like sleeping pills but it shifts your sleep pattern to normal and promotes deeper sleep.

You pin approx 30 minutes before bed. You can add CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin. The 3 combined are referred to as the "sleep optimization stack".

FASCINATING...I really should read into that one more. Thank you!

I take gobs of various Magnesiums, and that's helped a ton, but sometimes still need a super low dose of either thc (like...the tiniest grain will hit me like a truck so this is VERY rare) or melatonin, and I would really rather not rely on those two if I can avoid it. Will it work ok on its own or does it need the three to really work?

I see there's DSIP and then also some of the CJC stuff with no dac and with dac -- what benefit would one have over another and how do you dose these?

I'm considering to reboot with a 1 month caffeine break. Sleep is an issue, it was before Reta the case.
