So, my story is a but different than most. I was obese growing up but got things mostly under control in my late teens/early 20’s. I always struggled with weight and it was up and down, but I lived mostly in the mildly overweight category for most of my life. I had my first child at 49 and through my wife’s pregnancy and issues with postpartum depression, I pretty much said F-it and ate whatever I wanted. There is a lot more to the story but those are the broad strokes.

Here is the twist. When my daughter was about six month old, I decided that if I wanted to be around for her long term, I had to really start focusing my my health. I lost about 90 lbs of fat and put on a a good bit of muscle without any GLPs. I got pretty lean and stayed there for well over a year. (GLPs were only just starting to become a thing at the time and it wasn’t easy to get a script for weight loss; if I were just starting now, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them.) One thing I realized was that for me, it was no more difficult to maintain 10% body fat than it was to maintain 30%. That's not because 10% was easy, its because maintaining any weight was hard. One thing about the GLPs is that they have really brought out the concept of food noise. It was a revelation when I first heard that and realized it was something I had struggled with all my life. I would be thinking about what to eat for dinner while still eating lunch and I never feel full unless I significantly over eat. I had never realized that this was the real problem.

So I decided to see if a low dose of Tirzepatide would improve my quality of life. I don't need to lose any body fat, I am actually working on a lean bulk, but it all shouldn’t be as hard as it is. So far, I'm liking it. I'm still trying to find the best dose for minimal side effects while still getting a benefit, but life is easier. I actually feel full when eating a reasonable amount of food and I’m not always looking at the clock to see when I can eat again. Add that to all the non weight related health benefits and the little to no side effects from low dose Tirzepatide, and I think it makes sense as a general health and quality of life med.

I have done a lot of research on GLPs and peptides and on how to determine who to trust. When I’m allowed to do so, I’ll post some of my research and results. This forum has helped me a lot in figuring all of that out and I look forward to being able to give something back.
